I wrung my hands together as Kendra and I entered the gymnasium. There were people spread through out the gym and twinkling lights were everywhere.
The floor was covered in blue paper that I knew would be destroyed by the end of the night.
"Oh my god, you two look amazing!" A girly voice yelled. I smiled at Ally and hugged her. She looked amazing too. She was wearing a bright pink dress to match her pink tips- always the one to stand out. She looked like a Barbie. Andy walked up beside her, looking like the perfect ken doll. I swear I don't understand how they became so perfect.
"Hey Andy." I smiled and he smiled back with a wave of his hand.
A pair of arms wrapped around my waist and I froze- they weren't David's arms. They were big and bulky.
Jon.
"Hey princess." He kissed my forehead. I hugged his arms and smiled. I hadn't seen much of him lately and I didn't like it.
"Wanna dance?" He asked and I nodded, noticing Kendra had already left to find Danny. I had curled her hair, and she straightened mine. I was proud of how I looked, and was excited to see David's reaction.
Andy, Ally, Jon, Kendra, Danny and I danced the night away, not even caring that we looked like a bunch of idiots. I hadn't seen David at all, but Danny assured me I would see him before the night was over.
But now the night was over, way too soon for my liking, and I hadn't seen David anywhere. I brushed it off though, thinking maybe he'd forgotten and I wasn't one to jump to conclusions.
I decided to go home with Kendra and Danny, knowing that he'd be home at least and I could see him there. We pulled into the driveway and a familiar car sat, ruining my mood instantly.
Sarah.
My blood was boiling and I marched up to the house, ignoring Danny and Kendra's yelling after me.
I opened the door and crossed my arms. Sarah and David were sitting in the living room, Sarah on the armchair and David on the couch.
At least she kept her distance this time.
I cleared my throat and stared at the two. Sarah smiled at me and David did the same, both of them standing up. David came to kiss my cheek and I stared at him. He knew something was wrong and backed away to explain.
"Sarah came to apologize." He said and I stared at her.
"Did she?"
Just then Kendra and Danny appeared in the doorway, Kendra immediately coming to my side and looping my arm with hers.
"Yes, I did." She said with a smile. "To the both of you, I should've stayed away from David when I found out he was with someone."
"Then why are you here?" I questioned. She didn't want to apologize, she had an ulterior motive.
"Madilyn, she came to apologize." David said softly. I rolled my eyes and looked to Danny.
"Take me home, please." He nodded and left the room, Kendra and I following behind him.
"Madilyn! Where are you going?" David yelled. I rolled my eyes.
"Have fun with Sarah. I'm leaving."
Suddenly I felt a hand grab mine and pull me from Kendra. One of David's hands held my elbow while the other held my hand.
"Madilyn." He said softly. "Why are you leaving? She just came to say she was sorry."
"No." I snapped, pulling my arm from his. "She came to start something. People don't change that quickly. You must be blind if you don't see it."
"She's a good person." He said and I froze.
"You said she wasn't. You told your mother you hated her, yet you let her into your house, more than once, and act like she's the sweetest person you've ever met." I said, my patience running thin.
"I don't hate her, I can't. She was an important part of my life for a long time."
I'm not sure why, but hearing that hurt. A lot.
I knew she was important to him- well his mother. But hearing him stick up for her, is just a stab in the heart.
I walked to Danny's car, tears falling from my eyes. Kendra jumped in the back and held my hand, letting me rest my head on her shoulder.
She gave me a look and I told her what we needed. She nodded and looked to Danny.
"Stop at the store. We need cookie dough ice cream."

So Many Reasons
Romance"You're overthinking. I see those gears turning in that pretty little head of yours." I laughed at him and sighed. "There's so many reasons we can't be together, David." He nodded. "I know, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes." "Okay." I said...
