In most cases, the girl freaks out and forgets where she fell asleep the night before.
I knew exactly where I was when I woke up and I wanted to stay like that as long as I could.
So I didn't move. I lay there, and watch David snore quietly beside me. His arms are wrapped around me and my hands rest on his chest.
I knew it was my last day at the beach since we'd be leaving in the morning, and I wanted to spend my time left with David.
But I should spend it with my grandparents too. Would it be weird to have dinner with my grandparents and David? They would ask questions...
"Good morning, beautiful." David's voice filled the silent room, and broke me from my thoughts.
I smiled up at him.
He cupped my cheek and placed a warm kiss on my lips.
"Sleep okay?" He asked, still unmoving from our position. I nodded and laid my head on his chest.
"I'm hungry." I said, sitting up quickly. David laughed and stared at me for a minute before rolling his eyes and dragging me out of the room.
I smiled as we reached the bottom of the stairs. Kendra was sitting in Danny's lap, munching on cereal and watching tv in the recliner. She looked right at home. Danny was twirling a price of her hair in one hand and the other was on her leg.
Kendra smiled when she saw me and I gave her a wink before allowing David to make me his 'special' breakfast.
David made me cereal.
Froot loops were his specialties.
After I had laughed, a lot, at David's attempt of impressing me, he and Danny walked me and Kendra home.
Danny and Kendra walked by the water, holding hands and chatting wildly.
There was a space between David and I. I didn't like it but I'm not one to make the first move. He held my hand last night, why not now?
And just like he read my mind he grabbed my hand. David smiled at me and we continued to walk the small distance back to my grandparents.
"Madi?" I heard grandpas voice and looked up the steps onto the deck. I smiled up at him, trying not to panic.
"Hey grandpa." I tried sounding normal. Grandpa came to one of the last few steps and crossed his arms, almost glaring at David. "This is David."
David smiled at grandpa and reached out his hand.
"Nice to meet you, sir." Grandpa looked at David's outstretched hand and back at me.
"Who is this boy?" He rose an eyebrow at me and I started to panick even more.
"Robby Connell, be nice to the kids." Lord, thank you grandma! "Hello, dear. My names Rena, this is my husband Robby. He's just a little... Protective of his angel." Grandma smiled at David and stretched her hand. David smiled back and shook her hand happily.
"And who's with Kendra?" Grandpa said, his protective side showing again.
"Danny. My brother." David said, eyeing the two on the beach. I smiled at them and looked back to my grandparents.
"How about some lunch?" Grandma asked with a smile.
"We just ate breakfast, gram." I laughed.
"Nonsense." She waved her hand dismissively. "You can never eat too much." Grandma grabbed David's arm and pulled him into the house, a grumpy grandpa behind them. I waved Kendra and Danny over and they agreed to join us all for our early lunch.
As David and Danny tried to win my grandpa over, Kendra played peacekeeper and I helped grandma with lunch.
"Sleep well?" She asked, bumping my shoulder with hers. I laughed and shook my head.
"How did you know?"
"Angel, you've been coming here every summer for years and have never bumped into a 'school friend'. And he walked you home." She smiled at me. "I was a teenager once too, you know."
I smiled to myself. Grandma grabbed my cheek softly and pulled me to face her.
"I trust you to make the right choices, angel. I know you would never make a stupid decision." I hugged grandma tightly and smiled even wider.
"Thank you, grandma."
"Now, I want details! Are you together?" She squealed excitedly.
I shook my head and laughed.
"I don't think so."
"He's cute." She said with a wink.
"I agree." A happy Kendra said, walking into the kitchen. Grandma immediately tackled her with questions about her night with Danny. I shook my head and decided to eavesdrop a bit on grandpa and David.
Dad said he used to eavesdrop on mom and grandma, but I was never allowed to tell mom.
"How old are you two?" Grandpa asked them. Honestly, that's something I was even curious about. I hadn't known their ages.
"18." Danny said.
"I just turned 23, sir." David said. Not even caring. Uh oh.
"23?" Grandpa repeated.
"Yes sir." David said.
"Well you know Madi is-"
"Grandpa!" I yelled, jumping into the living room and scaring everyone in the room.
"What?" He asked, looking slightly panicked.
"Um, grandma needs you." I stammered. He nodded, kissed my forehead and left the room. I smiled after him and turned to the two guys. "So who's ready to eat?" I smiled nervously, and clapped my hands together.
The boys smiled back and we walked back to the kitchen, hopefully avoiding anymore slip ups from grandpa.

So Many Reasons
Romance"You're overthinking. I see those gears turning in that pretty little head of yours." I laughed at him and sighed. "There's so many reasons we can't be together, David." He nodded. "I know, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes." "Okay." I said...
