The next week was complete torture.
I'm not exaggerating either.
Dav-Mr. Parker, would find subtle ways to touch me and always asked me to help him with things. He was messing with me. I guessed he was trying to make me regret my decision.
I did, but he'd never know that.
"Ms. Taylor, could you-"
"No." I snapped. I'm sick of him using me as his personal slave. He rose an eyebrow.
"Excuse me?"
"I said no. I'm not helping with whatever stupid thing you need done." I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair. The room went dead- well not literally, but you get the point. It was like me to talk back to a teacher, but I didn't see him as a teacher. I saw him as an annoying friend.
"Fine. Mr. Pena, could you deliver these books to the librarian. She has been on my case for weeks about them." He said with a smile. Jon nodded and grabbed the books from Mr. Parkers hands. "And Madilyn, detention after school."
"What? Why?"
"Insubordination is a serious matter, Ms. Taylor." He said with a serious tone, but a smirk on his face.
That little-
The bell rang cutting off my internal cursing. I groaned and called Kendra.
"Could you drive Mel home? I have detention."
"No phones in detention." Mr. Parker said. I rolled my eyes.
"Shut up." I turned back to my phone. "Please."
I heard a laugh. "Sure. Just be good."
"Kendra." I warned. She laughed again and hung up the phone. I put my phone on my desk and rested my head on my hands, closing my eyes.
I heard footsteps and the chair in front of me scrape against the floor. I lifted my head slowly to see David smirking in front of me with his hands resting on his cheeks. I tried hard not to smile at his funny position.
He stayed like that for a while before he changed his look and pulled a funny face. I laughed softly and crossed my arms.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Trying to make you laugh." He said. "Is it working?" He made another funny face and I chuckled with another eye roll.
"Aren't you supposed to be quiet in detention?" I questioned and his face softened a bit.
"I'm so sorry." His face grew serious and be reached across the desk and intertwined our fingers. I stared at our hands, not saying anything. "I- I want to be with you, please, Madilyn."
I shook my head slowly. "You know we can't. I will not be the reason you lose your new job." I rested my hand on his cheek and rubbed it softly. "But I do wish more than anything that things were different."
He closed his eyes and rested his hand on top of mine.
"Let's keep it a secret then. Madilyn I want to be with you more than anything, you're all I think about."
I sighed, intertwining his fingers with mine again. I wanted to be with him, I knew that. I wanted to be in his arms like that night at the beach, I want to wear his hoodie and the necklace he gave me proudly.
Is it possible? I mean sure, hiding it wouldn't be too hard, we both have enough self control. I could easily tell my friends I was with the guy from the beach, they had no clue who he is. What about mom and dad? They'd clearly know that David was older than me and I couldn't hide something like this from them. I don't hide things or lie to my parents. Mom might understand, but dad is protective what if-
"Stop it." David said. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"Stop what?"
"You're overthinking. I see those gears turning in that pretty little head of yours." I laughed at him and sighed.
"There's so many reasons we can't be together, David."
He nodded. "I know, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes."
"Okay." I said.
"Okay?" He questioned.
I nodded. "Okay."
"Okay you'll be with me, or okay it's a bad idea?" He looked so scared of my answer, but eager at the same time. I laughed.
"Okay I'll be with you."
A huge smile spread across his features and he got up from his chair, pulling me up from mine. He hugged me tightly, lifting my feet off the ground and spinning me. I giggled and held on to him.
He set me on the ground but didn't release my waist, his smile never leaving. He placed a kiss on my head, my nose, my cheek, my chin, my forehead, and finally my lips. I smiled into the kiss, holding onto his neck.
I was happy. I made him happy. That's all that matters.
