I stuffed another spoonful of cookie dough ice cream in my mouth as Kendra and I waited up for David.

He hadn't come in yet.

It was already midnight.

"Kendra you can go to bed. I'll be fine. I think I'm just gonna go to bed myself." I said to her. She looked hesitant but nodded nonetheless.

I reluctantly put my bowl in the sink and went back to David's room. I made myself comfortable under the covers and laid my head on the pillow. I stared at the ceiling for what felt like hours before I eventually fell asleep.

I was awaken around four in the morning by a loud slam of a door and glass shattering. I sat up quickly and ran into the living room.

"David?" I yelled, watching as he cursed at the floor. On the floor lay what was a beer bottle, but now is just shattered glass with spilled contents.

David looked up, his eyes were bloodshot and wide. He stared at me like he was broken and he wanted me to fix him.

"Oh honey." I said softly, walking towards him and making him step away from the shattered glass. I helped David to the bed and laid him down as easily as I could. I pulled the blanket over his body and pulled away from him to clean up the glass.

"I'm sorry, Madilyn." He slurred. "I didn't mean to."

"You didn't mean to what, David?" I asked slowly. He hiccuped.

"To leave you." He was speaking so softly I almost didn't hear him. "I love you so much."

I felt a tear slide down my cheek as he fell asleep- well passed out.

I knew he would still be my mad after he woke, so I decided it best to leave. He would talk to me when he was ready.

I knew he would understand eventually. It was for his own good.

Graduation was now three weeks away. It has been one week since the fight between David and I. We haven't talked since.

Today though I was ending us not talking to each other. After school I waited patiently at his house. I sat on the couch and waited for him to show up.

David came in the door ten minutes after I did. To say he was surprised was an understatement. He froze when he saw me and looked around as if someone could explain why I was here.

"Hey." I said, standing up and walking in front of him. He put his thing down by the door and stared at me. His face was a mixture of emotions, and he looked like he was holding himself back.

So I made the first move.

I wrapped my arms around his stiff figure. He hesitated for what felt like forever before he caved and wrapped his arms around me tightly.

It was amazing to be in his arms again. I pulled back and smiled sadly up at him.

"I love you." I whispered. A tear dropped from my eyes and he quickly wiped it away.

"I love you, Madilyn." He kissed me softly and I half smiled. He would always give me butterflies when he kissed me.

"I'm so sorry." I said. "I should've tried harder to understand from your point of view."

He shushed me. "It's okay, I get it. We can keep us hidden." But his eyes told me he felt differently. Once again he was trying to make me happy, while sacrificing his own happiness.

"No, David. We can tell people whenever you want." I said firmly. It was time for me to sacrifice something.

"Are you sure?"

I nodded my head and that was all he needed to smile like a little kid. He picked me up and spun me around, laughing.

David put me down and kissed my lips passionately. He somehow picked me up and carried me to the bedroom without me knowing. I lay there on his bed, smiling like an idiot as he crawled on top of me.

I would do anything to make him happy, and I knew somehow everything wold work out okay.

As long as I had David.
