I feel good
Scratch that, I feel great.
David and I talked on the phone for most of the night. I know I'll pay for it later but I couldn't be more awake getting ready for my last first day of high school.
I was proud of my appearance too. I was wearing a dark blue, off shoulder, shirt with a red bow on it. I had on my favorite Pair of dark washed jeans that made my butt look good, and some heeled ankle boots. I left my hair fall in its natural thick waves and I had only light makeup.
I walked down the stairs and was greeted by the smell of pancakes... Yay!
"I hope that's mom making pancakes and not dad." I said staring at dad while I walked into the kitchen and sat on a barstool. Mom chuckled and dad scoffed.
"I'll have you know my pancakes are awesome!" He defended. I laughed and shook my head.
"Not as good as moms." He rolled his eyes and went back to reading his paper. "Old men these days. So defensive."
Mom started laughing so hard I thought she would fall over. I chuckled as I watched her attempt to make her pancakes while laughing. I didn't think it was that funny. Guess I was wrong.
After about 5 minutes Melanie ran downstairs and quickly stuffed her face with pancakes.
Mom decided I could drive to school since it was the first day so Melanie and I hopped into moms car and drove off. I smiled when we pulled in, seeing my best friends familiar beetle already in the parking lot.
I grabbed my bag and Melanie and I walked towards the doors and into the office to get our schedules.
"You going to be alright, Mel?" I asked her. She smiled and nodded, pointing to a part of the hall.
"I see my friends over there, see you later!" She happily ran over to her friends and I smiled, setting off to find my own.
Finding Kendra wasn't hard at all. As soon as I walked outside to the courtyard she was screaming my name. I had laughed and hugged her tightly, even though we saw each other two days ago.
"Hey!" I said cheerfully to our other friends. Kendra is my best friend, but we also have three other friends.
Allyson (Ally) , Andrew (Andy), they are twins, and Jonathan (Jon). We've all been friends since elementary school. Everyone said our friendship would fade, but our little group hasn't and I highly doubt it will.
Jon smiled and put an arm around my shoulders.
"I missed you!" He said with a smile. I smiled back and hugged him sideways. Something else, everyone in the school thought Jon and I would get together. I'll admit our freshman year I started to have a crush on him but I don't now. Don't get me wrong, Jon is a hotty but....
He's gay.
Yup, Jon was in the closet gay for four years until he came out our sophomore year. He waited for so long because he didn't want people to pick on him, which is dumb because Jon is huge. He's tall, and he has a lot of muscle, but not to the point where it's disgusting. Jon can be very intimidating.
After hugging all of my friends, chatting about our summers, and comparing classes Ally and I walked to our first period.
1st period- Harmony: Mr. Parker
2nd period- Chemistry: Mrs. Lee
3rd period- Civics: Mr. Long
Lunch
4th period- College English: Mrs. Wiley
5th period- Study Hall: Mr. Parker"Hey, Ally?" I said when we sat down in first period. "Who's Mr. Parker? Where's Mrs. Sampson?"
Ally shrugged and started playing on her phone. I frowned. I really liked Mrs. Sampson. She's the only reason I joined harmony in the first place. Ally didn't really pay much attention in harmony. She had a beautiful voice, but she was never close with Mrs. Sampson like I was.
I was singing to myself, like I always do, freshman year and Mrs. Sampson had walked by, told me I had a beautiful voice, and even begged me for weeks to join harmony. Over the three years I had become very close with her.
Everyone had gotten into their chairs and was chatting amongst themselves while we waited for our teacher.
After about five minutes the principal, Mr. Jones, came in smiling happily.
"Hello everyone." He smiled more. "Most of you already know me, but for the freshman that don't I'm Mr. Jones the schools principal. Your new harmony teacher will be starting in three weeks, but until then you have me."
I rolled my eyes. Great.
"We have two seniors who have been in harmony all four years, if you guys would like to explain what harmony is like?" I nodded my head and Ally and I proceeded to tell the class about what harmony was all about.
"I already wanna go home." I said, sitting down beside Andy at our usual lunch table. We usually ate outside when it was warm and inside if it got to cold. I lay my head on Andy's shoulder and he chuckles.
"I think everyone does." He gestured around our table at all of our depressed stricken friends. I sighed and continued to let myself fall asleep on Andy's shoulder.
"So, I heard our precious Madi met a new man." Jonathan said, wiggly his eyebrows.
"Ooh! Who?" Ally smiled, bouncing excitedly In her seat. Ally was the excited one of the group. She was outgoing, and always perky and optimistic. She had bleach blonde hair, with bright pink tips at the ends. She had sparkling green eyes and was always in bright clothing.
I glared at Kendra while she smirked.
"Kendra met a guy too!" Kendra blushed at my comment but showed no signs of embarrassment. Jon rolled his eyes.
"That's not anything new." Kendra chuckled. "You, on the other hand, Ms. Virgin Mary..." He trailed off, not needing to say more. I crossed my arms.
"There's nothing wrong with being a virgin!" I stated grumpily.
"You're right." Ally said, putting her hands up to stop the forming argument. "But who is he?"
"His name is David..." I trailed off, going into detail about my beach boy.
