Parties had never been my thing.

Parties were things Kendra dragged me to and I pretended I was enjoying myself.

But tonight was different.

I wasn't dreading going to the party; I was excited. I would get to see David. And the party is on the beach.

That's the main reason. Yeah, I'm excited for the beach.

I had on a pair of my favorite denim shorts, an off shoulder blue top, and my hair was still straightened from earlier.

I didn't bother with my shoes, knowing I'd take them off the second I reached the sand.

Kendra and I left the house, telling my grandparents goodbye on our way out.

We walked down the steps onto the sand and looked around for the boys. Kendra started pointing wildly towards two figures and yanked my arm.

We walked towards the figures, who we could now see more clearly. David smiled at me when we came towards him.

Danny and Kendra walked ahead of us the whole way down the beach. It was kind of cute seeing Kendra with Danny. They fit.

I felt my hand start to tingle and I looked down at it. David had our fingers intertwined together. I felt my cheeks burn and I glanced up to see if he was even paying attention. He wasn't.

Like this was normal.

"We're here." David's voice broke through the silence. I looked towards the beach in front of us, expecting to see dancing teens with red solo cups in their hands. But I didn't.

I saw a bonfire, some tiki torches, music was playing but it wasn't deafening, and there were only around twenty people lounging around and talking. They didn't have red solo cups, most of them held beer bottles and beer cans.

David pulled me towards two seats in front of the fire and we sat down.

He pulled out a Hershey bar and pack of gram crackers. He looked at me with a goofy grin and handed me a marshmallow.

I put my marshmallow on the stick and roasted my marshmallow to a perfect golden brown. I peaked at David and his marshmallow was black. I snorted and ate my delicious s'more.

David ate many black s'mores  and I ate many perfect ones before we were both stuffed. He smiled and stared into the bright bonfire.

I took this time to admire him. He was gorgeous- like a model. So why was he spending time with me?

I shivered and crossed my arms, turning my head so he wouldn't notice me being a creep. I heard him chuckle and from the corner of my eye I watched him pull his jacket off and slide it around my shoulders.

His jacket was soft, and I instantly welcomed the warmth, smiling up at him.

David smiled back at me and pulled me into him, wrapping his arm around me. I felt comfortable, I felt safe.

David pushed a strand of my dark hair behind my hair and softly caressed my cheek. His hand was warm against my cold cheek. It amazed me how easily he could give me butterflies. David started to lean in towards me and I got nervous, but I didn't move.

His lips connected with mine softly. It didn't feel like butterflies anymore- more like hornets. His lips molded with mine perfectly and I couldn't fight the smile on my face. He smiled into the kiss as well and continued to move his mouth with mine.

The kiss didn't get hot and heavy, it was simple and sweet. It was perfect.

"Oh my god!" A loud scream pulled David and I apart and before I knew it I was being hit with what smelt like vodka. It went all over my shirt- no doubt leaving an ugly stain.
