Unexpected - Chapter 1

Everything was gonna change now.

That sentence kept on repeating in my mind. I hoped that it was gonna change though. I wanted to move on in my life.

"Maggie, we're here." My mom said, as she parked the car. I took out my earphones, and stepped out of the car.

In my hand, I held a cactus. That was probably the only thing - except my bed and stuff like that - I had with me from my old home. Anything else, I left. Why should I take it with me, if I just wanted to forget about it? The stuff reminded me of my past, and I wanted to move on from that.

Looking down at my chapped and shabby old skool vans, my mom took her arm around my shoulder, and sighed satisfied. "This is a good thing, I promise." She squeezed my shoulder, as I just shrugged. I wasn't so sure about it.

I finally looked up at our new home, which were an apartment. Our former home, was a house. I had never lived in an apartment, but since we couldn't afford it anymore, we moved in here.

She opened up the door, and squealed in excitement, which made me roll my eyes. It was small, but not to small. I liked it better this way. There was just enough room for the two of us, compared to the house. There was too much space left, for only two people. But in the start we weren't just two.

"Okay, so there's two rooms, you can choose wich one you'd like." She said, but I was already on my way to look at the rooms. As there only was two bedrooms, I walked straight through the kitchen and living room, not bothered to really look at it, since nothing was in there. Looking in to the first room, it seemed quite big. Wooden floor, and white simple walls.
The other room was smaller, with the same wall, and same floor, just a bigger window. I knew I wanted this one. The other one was too big for me, and I knew my mother could easily fill up the space in the other room.

"I want this one." I said, as I heard she walked up beside me.

"But that's the small one?" She asked, clearly confused why I wanted the smaller room. I just shrugged. This was enough for me.

"Whatever you say." She muttered, making her way down to our car, probably to pick up our things.

I could already picture it. My bed in the corner beside the window, down at the floor, where my cacrus stood, and my record player, along with a little table and vinyls. On the other side of the room, would be where my closet find place. That's all I wanted so far. I didn't really want it to filled up with crappy things, that just was there because you didn't know where else it should be. That didn't fit in this room. Simple, but good.

Walking down to my mom again, I decited that I wanted to walk around this place, to know it, so that's what I told her.

I shivered, as the cold hit me while walking down the street. The sun was on its way down, and the sky was already turning other colors, than the ordinary blue or grey, it always is.

This place was quite calm. Not much noice or annoying traffic sounds. You could almost hear the late night wind, blowing in the air.
Not many people either, i've only seen a man, and a lady walking by with a dog. But more people came into my vision as I walked further down the road. I see a group of teenagers, sitting on a table and bench talking and laughing.

I just walked further away, because I didn't wanna ne seen by them.

I didn't know where I was going, but I knew, that I shouldn't walk to far away, so I had no idea how to come back.

Brick buildings and trees were around me now. I looked to my side, and saw a boy with all black clothes, and brown curly hair stare at me. He was leaning against the wall, and he had some kind of little package in his hand, which looked like a pack of cigarrets. He discovered that I too, was looking at him. He quickly put his package down in his leather jacket pocket, and made his way towards me.
Oh no.

I let my face look down, as I prayed inside, that he wasn't gonna talk to me or anything.

"Hey." He suddenly chirps up from behind, while putting his hand on my shoulder, making me turn around. "Haven't seen you before, are you new?" He smiled, showing of his slightly deep dimples.

"Yeah, just moved here today." I said quietly, I wasn't really used to talking to strangers.

"Sweet." He nodded looking at me for a couple of seconds, making me a little uncomfortable. "I'm Bradley by the way, but you can call me Brad." He held out his hand for me to shake.

Why did he say that I could call him that? I mean; we were never gonna meet again, and he didn't look like the type of people I would talk to. His style acctually kind of scared me, but his personality and and face said something else. He looked kind, and he was probably just being kind to me, by talking to me.

"I'm Maggie." I smiled, as I just took his hand and shaked it. His was quite warm compared to mine, and compared to the season.

"Nice to meet you Maggie, i'll maybe see you at one point."
He winked, let go of my hand, and walked away. Putting his hands down in his pocket, he was already gone, around the corner.
