Paying A Price

Now I'm disguising myself as that lady from the council. They put on a digital mask to make me look like her. I put on the old lady dress and heels. I looked at the mirror. My eyebrows raised in confusion. I walked out and headed to SHIELD headquarters. All I thought about was Elena, is she okay? Is she still alive? I had pushed away the thoughts and now play the role of the old lady. I made it to SHIELD. My eyes went over the place to see if Elena was around, but no sign of her. Then the other councils arrived, also Pierce came towards us.

"And how was the flight?" He asked me. I'm not good at this! Last time I acted was freshman for Theater and I got a D on that class cause I was horrible.

"Lovely," I said in Hawley's voice. Dang, she's old and she sounds old too, wow. "The ride from the airport, less so."

"Sadly, SHIELD can't control everything. Including Captain America and Firestone." We all walked towards and stop in front of a person holding a briefcase. He opened it and revealed four pins. "This facility is biometrically controlled." He passed us the pins and we put them on. "And these will give you unrestricted access." We all went to a room and drank champagne. I hate champagne. Gross! "I know the road hasn't exactly been smooth, and some of you would gladly kick me out the car along the way." I'm far from kicking you out of the car- Crystal, not now!

"Finally, we're here. And the world should be grateful." Pierce raised his glass.

"Attention all SHIELD agents, this is Steve Rogers. You've heard about me and Agent Stark over the last few days. Some of you were even ordered to hunt us down. But I think it's time you know the truth. SHIELD is not what we thought it was. It's been taken over by HYDRA. Alexander Pierce is their leader." We all looked at him. "The STRIKE and Insight crew are HYDRA as well. I don't know how many more, but I know they're in the building. They could be standing right next to you. They almost have what they want. Absolute control. They shot Nick Fury. And it won't end there. If you launch those helicarriers today, HYDRA will be to kill anyone that stands in their way. Unless we stop them. I know I'm asking a lot. But the price of freedom is high. It's always had been. And it's a price I'm willing to pay and so is Crystal. And if we're the only ones, then so be it. But I'm willing to bet I'm not." We still were looking at Pierce.

"You smug son of a bitch." Said a councilman. Then, some STRIKE soldiers came in the room.

"Arrest him." Said another councilman. An agent pulled out a gun and point it towards the guy.

"I guess I've got the floor." Pierce said. My fist clench.
