We are starting on doing the baby's room. We went for a light grey, something neutral since we still didn't want to the the gender we played it safe.I was putting up the shelves and Steve was building the dresser. We bought stuff animals, mostly from Pepper and Bruce who sent little gifts for the newborn. The room was coming along, but Steve was really struggling with the dresser.
"Here let me help." I sat down, reading the instructions, setting the pieces aside. "Okay hand me that over there."
"Here." I screwed up everything while he sat there handing me piece by piece. Once I finished, Steve helped me up. We stood there admiring the work. We put everything where it's supposed to go. "How do you not get stressed over building stuff." I tilted my head as I turned to him.
"Steve, come on. I made FRIDAY when I was 11, I think I can handle a few screws."
"I do think you are the one wearing the pants in this relationship." A cracked a smile. "I'm fine with that. I like you like that."
"Thank god you married me." I showed him the ring on my finger.
"Im just still processing that you said yes." He pulls me in for a hug, swaying me back and forth. The feeling of being in his arms was just so welcoming, so warm. I could just be in his arms all day if I could. They felt like home.
"Am I interrupting something?" Natalie walks in. Sassy little girl. "Kiss now, while I have mu eyes close."
"One day you'll find someone who will make you smile like your mother does to me." Steve holds my hand as he placed a kiss on my cheek. I looked up with a smile and Natalie pretended to gag.
"I don't want anyone. All that lovey dovey makes me want to rip my eyes out." Natalie walks around her new siblings room, eyeing the stuff animals, looking at which ones she wants.
"Dont say that. You will."
"If I do that means I'm brainwashed." I picked her up, hugging her. "Plus I don't think I'll find anyone who would love me like you guys love each other." She puts her head on my shoulder.
"Hopefully one day honeybunny. Come on, we have a big day tomorrow, you need to rest." I carried her to her room, tucking her into bed and Steve turning on her nightlight. Steve gently placed a kiss and walks away and leans on doorframe, crossing his arms.
"Goodnight jellybean."
"Night mom, night dad." We closed the door and headed downstairs. Steve went to his record player and played one his old vinyls, turning up the volume but low so he wouldn't wake Nat up. Steve takes my hand pulls me in, swaying.
"This is nice." I whispered softly, looking up at him.
"We should do this more often."
