Nya's POV
I knew this sword was dangerous. I knew how it corrupted me down in the shrine.
But that didn't stop me from leaning forward and reaching out to it.
When I touched the wooden hilt, I felt a shiver run through my body. The world became darker, duller, but a new unfamiliar sense of power rushed through me. What is this?
I studied the blade more carefully. It seemed perfectly new, the diamond blade shining in the late afternoon sun. The wooden hilt was quite plain, but had a strange inscription.
It was in some kind of language. I couldn't understand it.
After a few minutes of trying to read the inscription, I gave up.
I knew I couldn't walk in to the treehouse with the sword which I had used to nearly kill Zach with.
So I quickly pulled out a crafting bench.
It didn't take long until I had made a perfect wooden casing for the sword. Now it looked just like a wooden sword; completely harmless.
I walked back home, quite proud of myself.
Once I got there, I quickly ran over to my private chest (if either of the boys touched my private chest, trust me, they would be screwed) and removed my bow which I had slung over my shoulder.
Returning to the main floor, I started up the furnaces and prepared dinner for the three of us.
Steve was the first to come home. He looked worn-out, and slumped onto the couch with a groan.
"I reckon I've caught enough food to last a week, Nya." He said, explaining his plentiful hunt while I cooked.
About a half hour later, Zach returned. Unlike Steve, he barely looked tired at all. His eyes shone with the same mischievous light.
&quoHey, Nya!" He called to me cheerfully. His face fell when he saw Steve sitting at the table, waiting for dinner.
"Oh... Hey Steve... I guess..." he murmured much more quietly.
"SOOOOOO... YOU GUYS WANT DINNER OR WHAT?" I practically yelled out, trying to brighten up the tense mood.
That made Zach smile faintly. I smiled in return.
I gently set down the freshly cooked pork chops on half block plates. I sat down in a seat, and quickly started shoveling down the meat (I was hungry, ok? Besides, the smell of cooked pork really didn't help my appetite...) and listening to the awkward silent.
I noticed the two boys kept giving each other hostile glances. Holy Notch, what have they gone and done now?

Zach's POV
I could sense Nya's irritation about me and Steve not talking, or rather, sending each other death glares. But there is no way I'm forgiving him. Who does the asshole think he is?
~~~~~Flashback~~~~~~
Steve slammed me against the tree trunk. Before he could connect his fist with my face, I pulled out my iron sword, 'Esmeralda', and using my many years of practice, had HIM pinned against the tree with the point of my sword centimeters from his damned face.
"What the hell was that for, bro? You can't just go around attacking people for fun, you know*." I told him, my anger, confusion and distrust easily showing in my voice.
"Hmph. You're the one to be talking, asshole."
Seriously, what was with this guy? I've heard of 'bad days', but recently, it seems everyday is like that for Steve.
"You're an absolute player, you know that? How dare you try and take her from me!" Steve yelled at me, and I brought the sword tip even closer to his face.
"Wait - what? What do you mean, 'take her from me'? WAIT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT NYA!? SORRY TO TELL YOU THIS BRO, BUT SHE WASN'T EVER YOURS, SO I DONT KNOW WHERE THE HELL YOU GOT THAT IDEA FROM. NYA IS HER OWN PERSON. AND I AM NOT A PLAYER!!" I screamed at him.
He was eying the sword tip, which was making him majorly cross-eyed.
What the hell did he mean, 'take her from me'? No one owns Nya, although... Personally that certainly wouldn't be such a bad thing... CRAP DID I JUST THINK THAT? I don't like Nya, I swear I don't! (who am I even swearing to...). Just because she cheers me up, or makes me feel light and happy inside, or that my heart beats a thousand times faster when she's near? No, that doesn't mean I like her! I'm just being a caring friend, protecting her from Steve the official creep.
"Look, mate, I don't know what your problem is, but lemme give this to you straight; Nya is a person, and she can't be taken away by anyone, because she doesn't belong to anyone! She's a person, with her own rights and freedom. She can decide what paths her life will take!"
I started out my little lecture slowly, bit slowly built up enthusiasm until I was basically face-to-face with him, my sword now in m hand beside me. I opened my mouth to continue, but Steve interrupted me.
Steve smirked. "You think you can win, Zach Dare? Just wait, soon, one day, Nya WILL belong to me, and when that days comes, you'll have nothing to live for." He gave me a knowing, yet evil look.
I gulped. How could he know?
Before I could say anything, Steve slowly walked away, until the jungle leaves absorbed him completely.
~~~~~ End of Flashback ~~~~~
Once Steve had disappeared, I had made a promise to myself.
I will never let that creep Steve near Nya. Ever.
But... What would Nya think of that? I have to make it sneaky, so my intentions aren't obvious. Nya would never believe me if I said one bad word against that damned idiot.
"So, what'd ya guys do today while you were out?"
Damn, damn, damn.
I hadn't thought of an excuse for THAT one.
