Nya's POV

I tried to sleep that night, but it was impossible. For two reasons.

One being that Zach had gone missing. I waited in the tree for ages, but eventually became impatient and began to search for him, with no luck. Steve said not to worry, but I knew better. I had this strange feeling that something was terribly wrong. I longed for the feeling of safety I had when I was in Zach's arms.

Two being that the strange man I was having dreams about was still haunting me, saying the same things. He called me a 'wielder', staring at me through those blank soulless eyes.

In a nutshell, these were the reasons why I couldn't sleep that night.

I didn't understand why I was so worried about Zach. I mean, he can take care of hinself. And I knew that. But... Its strange really. Its like... If I'm not there, to make sure he stays out of trouble...

I kept fantasying about my worried emotions regarding Zach, when I saw the moon through the gap in the trees. It's bright light shone down on me, creating a third reason as to why I couldn't sleep. Just great.

I noticed how beautiful it was. The cloudless night sky was covered in thousands of glittering stars. I reached up to one, tried to catch it, but they stayed there, in their own realm of freedom, where no one told them where to go or what to do. I longed for that sense of freedom.

I remembered my father. And mother. And Tali. Oh, Tali... I miss you so much. Tali was 12, five years younger than I was, and being her big sister and all, I had this instinct to protect her. I want to keep my little sis safe. I can't do that out here.

I looked up at the half moon in the sky. With a jolt, I ran back to my bed.

I searched through my private chest, which was filled with everything I had brought from my home in Bloquear; childhood memories, certain valuables, and many, many books.

I loved to read. It was an addictive hobby, you could say. No one, except my mother and Tali knew about it.

I found a book with a worn brown leather cover with gold lettering on the side reading; Phases of the Moon for the Next Century. I flicked through it briskly, but being careful not to rip the soft parchment.

I flicked through until I found what I was looking for; this month. I didn't know the date (to little time to keep thinking about those things, I'd just forget anyways) but I wasn't stupid enough *cough* to forget the month.

I read through the charts until I found today's date; September 16th. I gasped.

Tomorrow is my birthday. The day I turn 18. I'll be an adult, 6 years older than Tali, only 9 months younger than Zach.

I looked up at the sky again, and as I did, a blazing light flew across the black sky. A shooting star! I had heard of them, in astronomy class, but never seen one in person. Apparently, if you wish upon a shooting star, it will come true.

I tool my chance. I made my wish. And what came out if my mouth wasn't what I expected.

You see, I was going for the, 'I wish my life would be normal again' kinda thing, but what came out was,

"I wish that Zach will come home safely."

Like, what? Was I really worried about him that much? It made no sense. No sense whatsoever.

My birthday present. My wish.

That Zach comes home safely.

-----------------------------------

I can barely remember birthdays. I'm a very forgetful person (incase you didn't know or figure it out yet) and dates have always confused me. Damn numbers.

I was recalling past birthdays when I heard someone climbing the vine ladder. Holy Notch, have those stupid zombies finally figured it out?

I prepared myself to fight, but luckily I was only being paranoid. It was only Steve. Wait, he's been out the whole time?

I laughed at myself. Climbing zombies. Pfft. Stupid Nya.

Steve looked different. I couldn't see very well in the dark, but hey, I wasn't blind. I know an evil look when I see one.

What I didn't expect was to see one on Steve.

"Hey, Steve. Whats up?" I asked him nervously, aware of the creepy, dark look on his face, stained in his eyes.

"Nothing much. Just a midnight hunt. Goodnight, wielder." He walked off without another word.

I mentally slapped myself. What... What did he call me? Wielder? That's impossible...

I laughed at myself a second time. Great, I am no so messed up my dreams are becoming reality. Or is it reality becoming dreams..? I sighed. I wish.

I wish.

I looked up at the night sky, and prayed that Zach was safe and sound and that he would come back in the morning.
