There will be one day in your life when you realize you've been holding on to things that are only weighing you down. Things you thought you needed. People you thought were making you feel better. Memories you thought would be a part of your future again. But just like how the sun sets every day, we need to say goodbye and move on with our lives. Saying goodbye to today will mean saying hello to tomorrow. Stop re-reading the last chapter. We need to go on and write the next one.
At that moment, Dennise realized she tied herself down. Lahat ng doubts niya kung kaya niya ang med school, lahat ng doubts niya kung kaya niya mag-isa, lahat ng doubts niya sa buhay niya.. narealize niya na lahat ng iyon ay muntik nang maging dahilan para hindi niya marating ang pangarap niya.
This climb was the answer to all her questions. She finally got the answer to her questions by watching that sunset.. beside Alyssa. Beside someone she just met two days ago but already knows more about her than the older people in her life. Beside someone who was holding her hand in one hand.. and was holding her heart in the other.
Tsaka naman naisip ni Dennise.. na wala pa siyang masyadong alam kay Alyssa.
Alyssa: "Beautiful."
Saka lumingon si Dennise at nakitang nakatitig sa kanya si Alyssa.
Kanina pa nakatitig si Alyssa kay Dennise. Nasa harap na nila ang sunset.. isang bagay na parating pinapanood ni Alyssa noon pa man kaya naging paborito niya din ang orange.. pero she wanted to look at Dennise and admire her beauty instead. Sa mata ni Alyssa.. Dennise was more beautiful than the sunset.. something she'd watch day and night if given the chance.
Dennise: "Alam mo, sunsets used to make me sad."
Alyssa: "Why?"
Dennise: "Kasi diba.. it's like saying goodbye. And the sky is turning dark.. parang ang lungkot lungkot lang ng pakiramdam. Pero right now.. watching it with you.."
Humarap si Dennise kay Alyssa at humarap din si Alyssa kay Dennise. Hindi pa din nagbibitaw ng kamay ang dalawa.
Dennise: "It feels like saying goodbye is so easy. It feels like saying goodbye is the best thing I am going to do today."
Alyssa: "Say goodbye to the negative things. Say goodbye to the things that make you sad.. the things that make you scared. Kasi once the sun sets, you just need to close your eyes and rest.. and you will get it through the night."
Tumitig si Dennise sa mga mata ni Alyssa. If she could, she wants to look into those eyes the moment she wakes up in the morning.. and she wants them to be the last thing she sees before she sleeps at night.
Dennise: "I just hope.. that you'll still be there when I open my eyes."
Alyssa: "Why don't you close your eyes now and we'll see?"
Dennise closed her eyes. Alyssa stared at Dennise's face.. her eyelashes.. her nose.. her lips. Unti-unting binitawan ni Alyssa ang kamay ni Dennise.. at kumunot naman ang noo ni Dennise dito. Pero umusog papalapit si Alyssa kay Dennise.. tsaka siya bumulong dito.
Alyssa: "You don't have to see me.. to know that I am here for you. You don't have to feel my hand.. to know that I will catch you when you fall. You just have to believe. Believe in me Dennise."
Hinawakan ni Alyssa ang kamay ni Dennise.. pero dumiretso siya sa bracelet na binigay niya rito.
Alyssa: "Wear this.. and I will always be with you."
Dennise: "Thank you for everything Ly.."
Dennise opened her eyes to see Alyssa smiling at her. Kumpleto ang lahat ng dimples nito na nakadisplay para sa kanya.
