Joe's Bar
Eric pushed through the door and was immediately hit by warmth, music, and the familiar smell of beer and fried food.
Joe's wasn't crowded.
Not quiet either.
Just busy enough to feel alive.
Arizona spotted him immediately.
"Finally."
Eric stopped beside the stool.
"I am six minutes late."
"Seven."
"Six."
"Seven."
Eric looked at Joe.
"Has she been doing this all evening?"
Joe didn't even look up from the glass he was drying.
"Since minute two."
"I have not."
"You absolutely have."
Arizona pointed at Joe.
"I don't remember inviting you into this conversation."
Joe shrugged.
"My bar."
Eric sat down.
The familiar bottle appeared in front of him before he could ask.
He stared at it.
Then at Joe.
Then back at the bottle.
"I was just about to order—"
"You always order the same thing."
Eric stayed quiet.
Arizona said,
"Don't act like you're not going to order that."
A beat.
Then Eric grabbed the bottle.
Joe moved away.
Arizona watched him go.
"You're getting predictable in your old age."
"I'm thirty-two."
"Exactly."
The door opened again.
This time Owen.
He spotted them.
Stopped.
Then shook his head.
"No."
Arizona immediately smiled.
"Yes."
"No."
"Get over here."
Owen looked around the room.
Like maybe another table would save him.
It wouldn't.
He sighed and walked over.
"You know I saw the text."
"And?"
"I knew this was a mistake."
"And yet."
"And yet."
Arizona gestured toward the empty stool.
Owen sat.
For a moment nobody said anything.
Just the noise of the bar around them.
