Grey's Anatomy Season 7 Episode 20

Evening
Seattle Presbyterian Medical Center
Eighth Floor — Private Orthopedic Ward

Cristina walked beside Dr. Benjamin Hartwell as they moved down the corridor.

The Chief of Orthopedic Surgery carried a chart beneath one arm.

Cristina carried coffee.

"How's he doing?"

Hartwell glanced down at the chart.

"Fractures are stable."

"Swelling?"

"Better."

"Range of motion?"

"Started exercises this morning."

Cristina nodded.

Progress.

Slow, but progress.

"Pain?"

Hartwell looked up briefly.

"He says he's fine."

Cristina huffed a quiet laugh.

"So he's in pain."

Hartwell turned a page.

"That's my assessment."

They continued down the hallway.

Evening sunlight filtered through the windows overlooking the city.

Private rooms lined both sides of the corridor.

Quiet.

Orderly.

"No neurological deficits," Hartwell said.

Some of the tension eased from Cristina's shoulders.

"And his hands?"

"We expect full function."

No hesitation.

No qualifiers.

Cristina nodded once.

Good.

Hartwell closed the chart.

"It'll take time."

Of course it would.

That was the part Eric would hate.

They reached the final room at the end of the hall.

Hartwell stopped.

Cristina stopped beside him.

"He talk today?"

Hartwell considered it.

"A little."

More than she'd expected.

"He cooperating?"

"He follows instructions."

Of course he did.

"Therapy?"

"Doing it."

Cristina glanced toward the door.

"And?"

A faint sigh escaped Hartwell.

"He doesn't say much."

That sounded more familiar.

Hartwell handed her the chart.

"You should tell him the prognosis."
