Joe's was loud.

Not crowded, just loud enough that nobody had to lower their voices.

At one table, April was making the mistake of defending Robert Stark.

Which meant Alex Karev had immediately declared war.

"I'm just saying, he's been nicer lately."

Alex stared at her.

"To who?"

"To me."

"That's not nicer."

April rolled her eyes.

"He taught me three different approaches to pediatric tendon repair today."

Alex took a drink.

"That's called work."

"No, he actually took time to explain it."

"Because nobody else would listen to him."

Cristina snorted into her beer.

April pointed at Alex.

"You just can't accept it because he's nicer to me."

Alex looked offended.

"He could save a bus full of nuns and I'd still think he's annoying."

April groaned.

"He's not that bad."

Alex leaned back in his chair, abandoning the argument entirely.

"My week sucks."

Cristina didn't even look up.

"Your life sucks."

"My week sucks more."

"The new OB?"

Alex pointed immediately.

"Lucy Fields."

Cristina nodded.

"Right."

The new OB fellow had somehow managed to make Alex miserable in less than a week.

"She threw me out of the NICU."

Cristina finally looked interested.

"What'd you do?"

Alex hesitated.

A beat.

"Nothing."

April laughed.

"Even the new OB fellow hates you."

Alex pointed at her.

"Stark talks to you because he wants to date you."

April nearly choked on her beer.

"What?"

Cristina groaned.

"Oh God."

Alex sat back, completely satisfied with himself while April stared at him in horror.

"What? I'm helping."

"You are not helping."

"He likes you."

"He does not."

Alex looked at Cristina.

She still hadn't properly engaged.
