Grey's Anatomy Season 7 Episode 19

SIX WEEKS
Sofia Robbin Sloan Torres
2 lbs, 13 oz

MAY — Morning
Sixth Floor — Pediatrics Wing
NICU

Arizona stepped out of Sofia's room and found Eric standing at the observation window.

Again.

At this point, she barely registered it anymore.

For six weeks he'd been appearing in the NICU multiple times a day.

Sometimes for a minute.

Sometimes for five.

Never long.

Just long enough to stop moving.

Then he disappeared again.

That morning he'd vanished into Trauma for nearly an hour before somehow finding his way back here.

Back to the same spot.

Through the glass, Sofia slept beneath a tangle of blankets and monitoring wires, completely unaware of the army of people quietly revolving around her.

Eric's gaze rested on the incubator.

Arizona leaned against the counter beside him.

"She's up to two pounds, thirteen ounces."

He glanced over.

"Show-off."

A smile touched Arizona's face.

"She's my patient."

"You weighed her this morning."

"I absolutely weighed her this morning."

For a second, something almost normal crossed his face.

A small smile.

The kind she'd barely seen lately.

Then his pager sounded.

The smile vanished instantly.

Arizona watched the transformation happen.

His shoulders straightened.

His attention shifted.

Like someone had flipped a switch.

Eric looked down at the screen.

Already halfway gone.

"Trauma."

"Of course it is."

He slid the pager back into his pocket.

"I'll check in later."

"You always do."

Eric gave a small nod before turning toward the hallway.

Arizona watched him go.

Then her attention drifted farther down the corridor.

Toward the nurses' station.

Alex.

April.

Lexie.

Stacks of folders and paperwork covered the counter.

The Africa project.

Eric slowed as he approached them.

Not enough to truly stop.

Just enough.

Lexie noticed him immediately.

Arizona saw it.
