Lost in your Deception

Free verse poem

~~

I lost my impatient smile

roaming in the woods.

Hell-bent on shaping my life

worthwhile for a spell.

I hadn't thought of turning back,

the void so dense - no escape.

Knowing what would lay ahead

you stumbled forward and left no trace.

Now staring at the treetops out of proportion,

it seems that my mighty luck

was far-fetched to begin with.

Why did I come this far to stray again?

If getting sidetracked was your specialty,

then why did you hold me under scrutiny?

Blaming your wickedness on me

you fleed with no remorse.

But now it's time to face the truth

your savage hoax consumed your youth.
