Danielle's Point of View
8 months later
I was fast asleep in Calum's bed, having an amazing dream. There were unicorns and rainbows and cookies! It was just amazing. Until I got woken up by the sound of a little voice screaming.
My eyes shot open, and I launched myself up so I was sitting up on the bed. I rubbed my head and groaned. I looked to the side of me to see that Calum, didn't react at all. He was still peacefully asleep. I sighed and got up out of bed knowing it was little Matt.
Matthew.
That's what Kaelyn and Michael finally agreed on for their baby. He came on November 1st, 19 days before Michael's birthday, at just under 6lbs. He's got Kaelyn's eyes and Michael's face shape. He's so cute and so precious.
I love little babies and at any chance I get to spend with them, I do.
Since none of the new parents got up to get their child, I did the job of walking in through to the nursery to get him. I walked over to the lamp near the cot and turned it on as he continued to gently cry.
"Hey, little guy. What's wrong, huh?" I cooed quietly bending over the cot to we him. Tears were starting to stream down his tiny little face, and his arms and legs wriggles around under the cover he had over him. "Awk, come here." I put my hand gently under his head the other under his tiny body lifting him up out the cot and bobbing him up and down.
"Shhhh..." I shushed him as he started to settle down a little. "You're keeping everyone awake these days, aren't you. Mummy and Daddy are so tired they didn't even hear you." He gurgled as I spoke to him. "Yeah." I smiled tiredly at him. His eyes started to slowly close as I continued to bob up and down, still shushing as I moved towards the chair in the corner of the room.
As I continued to get him back to sleep, I heard a door open and close and someone yawn, footsteps coming towards the room. Eventually a sleepy Michael appeared at the door. He yawned before speaking. "I heard you guys on the baby monitor." He yawned again. "Thanks for settling him."
He walked towards us and kneeled down kissing Matt's head. "Hey little one." He whispered smiling at him, before looking up at me. "I'll let you get back to sleep, here." He got up and put his arms out to take Matt.
"Okay." I smiled standing up also. As I did he started to move and crinkle up his face like he was going to cry again.
"Hey, hey, shhh. It's okay..." Michael whispered to him gently taking him in his arms. I smiled down at the little one, kissing his forehead and gently hugging Michael.
"You're doing a great job, Mike, both of you." I grin at him. He nods and returns the smile.
"Thank you." He then goes to take a seat were I previously was sitting as I left Michael with his son. It was so cute. Honestly, I am so proud of Michael and Kaelyn.
I quietly walked back through into Calum's room, only this time he was sitting up on his phone the bedside lamp turned on. I smiled at him closing the door and joined him in the bed.
"Was that little Matt?" He asked turning off his phone.
"Yeah." I sighed getting under the cover as he put his arm around me. "He's so cute, so he is."
"Yeah." He agreed laughing a little. "Could you imagine a little us running around this place?."
I laughed a little, although I was actually thinking about it...
"Yeah." I looked up at him and intertwined my hand with his other hand. "What do you think?"
He laughed lightly. "Think about what?"
I sighed playing with our hands. "I wanna try for a baby..." I quietly said looking down as I did, before looking up at him. He looked down at me his eyes pretty wide.
"Dan, you know that's huge. It's your own kid, not a baby that you see sometimes and just sometimes look after. That's someone relying on you." He told me.
I bit my lip and nodded, looking back down. I kept our fingers intertwined and rested my head on his chest as it rose up and down as he breathed. "I know. To early to talk about it, sorry."
"No. It's not that it's early just... I don't know Dan."
I sighed and untangled our fingers but still lay on his chest. I curled my hands under my chin and sighed closing my eyes. "It's fine, Calum."
"No, but know you've brought it up -"
I opened my eyes and lifted my head up so I looked at him and put on a smile. "Calum, seriously it's fine. We don't have to talk about it now if you don't want to." I assured him.
He sat up and sighed. "Are you sure? It's just we can, I don't mind -"
He wouldn't drop it. So I did the usual, kissed him to shut him up.
I really did want to try for a baby though, but, for that to work the baby needs both of us so, I'll wait until I'm ready. Until we're both ready.
"I swear I'm fine, we're still young. Got loads of time." I smiled. He smiled back at me, tucking a piece of loose hair from my messy pony tail behind my ear.
"Okay. So it is.." He checked the time on his phone on the bed. "Coming up for half past three. What do you wanna do?"
I sighed and thought about it for a bit. "I don't know what do you wanna do?" I turned the question back to him.
"Absolutely nothing." He laughed. I laughed along with him and nodded.
"I agree."

"So your birthday, Mike. What's going down?" I question Michael as I came through into the kitchen. Luke, April, Kaelyn and Calum were already there.
He snorted and covered his mouth. "What do you mean? I'm not doing anything."
The rest of us looking around at each other and shook our heads.
"You're kidding me!"
"You're turning twenty!"
"What do you mean? 'I'm not doing anything' "
We all yelled at him in unison. He put his arms up in mock surrender and took a step back. "Woah, slow down. One - I can't have a party, there is a new born here. Two - so what I'm turning twenty, big deal and three - why make a fuss?"
"Michael, are you crazy?! You're the biggest party animal I know!" April told him. He shook his head and put his glass in the sink.
"I know but now I have a child, I have responsibilities."
Kaelyn walked up to him feeling his forehead. "Babe, you feeling okay?"
"I'll just kiss some sense into you as well then." He smiled leaving over to kiss her on the lips.
"Yes. Michael. Is. Right." She said in a robot voice turning round face us. She looked at us all, straight face.
"See." Michael laughed. Kaelyn snapped out of it, and laughed as well.
"So party on?" Luke asked with a raspy voice. He was still sick, but was recovering slowly.
Michael shook his head and started to walk away. "Nope."
"But Mike -" Calum whined.
"Guys, no party this year. Okay?" He checked everyone was clear before walking off upstairs to get Matt, who was started to cry on the monitor.
"Yeah, sure. Whatever." We mumbled.
We waited until we could hear him on the other side of the monitor before talking again.
"He's having a party."
