The keeper jumped out of the way in time before the black wolf was able to bite him. The keeper cursed as he rolled through the snow, shooting at the black wolf but he dodged it by ducking. Everything began to happen in slow motion when the rest of the humans began to raise their guns at us. The wolf pushed me further in the cave and I got down onto my belly cowering into the ground. He was going to fight off the humans and protect me. I was happy that he saw me as something to protect, but if only he would accept me. Now I was afraid that I would lose him somehow.

The guns were pointed at the black wolf and the guns simultaneously shot off in his direction. He jumped in the air catching two of the men with his claws, his black fur shining in the sunlight. His paws were stained red now and the two men fell to the ground. They were not dead but for their sake it would be better if they were. To die slowly from the loss of blood wasn't the easiest way to go.

The others pointed the guns at him trying to aim, but because of their poor human eyes they didn't know where he was. He was moving faster than any werewolf I had seen which only brought me back to the fact he was a royal wolf. There was no other explanation for his abilities, he could resist the urge to want to listen to the humans. Plus with the technology the humans had they were able to gain ways in which to hunt us. All in all they would soon take over us all, whatever they had planned was beyond what we could imagine.

When they had seen there was no chance of them winning the humans began to back down retreating in the forest.

"Retreat he is too much for us." The keeper yelled to all of them.

As the black wolf kept attacking them clawing and nipping at them.

"But what about the female?" One of them said looking frantically in my direction.

"Leave her, she is as good as dead anyway. None of them last long."

My heart dropped at his comment and knew that it was true. The last lasted a week before she was hunted down by him and almost killed her. What would happen to me? Why was he so set on pushing everyone away?

My brain couldn't take thinking anymore

The humans began to retreat back towards the buildings where they could be safe from him. He chased them off for a few miles and finally came back to the cave nuzzling my head. I was surprised at first going stiff against him but relaxed, nuzzling him back it was the first time he allowed himself near me. But as quickly as it had started it was over and he settled on the other side of the cave growling at me.

It was very confusing. I didn't know if he wanted to protect me or if he didn't want me near him. At this rate I felt he didn't even know what he wanted at all kind of like a child.

For the longest time he just sat there watching me breath like it was foreign to him. Every time I would take a breath he would growl. The first few minutes that he did it I was afraid I coward away and whimpered. After going through that a while it was just plain funny and then it was annoying. I made a move to lay down and he growled loudly, his ears drawing back and baring his teeth at me and I froze in all movements. He shook his head and gave the command to stay in the cave before he ran out. I stayed like he wanted and laid down feeling a little comfortable with him away from me.

It was exhausting wondering if he was going to rip my head off or snuggle me. At any rate I hope this would be over soon.

I ran alongside the rest of the soldiers, the keeper running close behind me. I was beginning to think the wolf wasn't worth it. Sure I'd gotten a raise and won the rations for the capture of the all famous wolf. But really was it worth it?
