~Hawke~

Forgotten memories of the events from the past were unfolding before my eyes. They left me speechless as I watched them play before me. My father slapped my mother and a loud explosion happened from the building behind. I now recognized it as the place where all the humans gathered for weapons and trade. My mother picked me up, her cheek red from the hit.

"What have you done Eirwen?!" My father was now screaming at her, she held me close, kissing the top of my head. "I did what I must, nothing more. Can you not see the things they have done?

"You created this mess from the start! I told you no good would come of it and now look." He gestured as more dragons flew away in a light and vanished. " You are making a mistake and the dragon's sense that they are all returning."

"There is still one last hope in helping them, I can fix it." Avis let out a loud screech as chains were placed upon her by what I thought were humans. Their strength was beyond this world and I realized they were wolves. But why?

"They have created something far worse and now there will be a never-ending battle." Avis was now secured in chains, her wings trying to flap and her calls to her dragon ken unanswered. "It's too late to go back from this. You have aided them in promises that lead to destruction. Weapons that they don't fully understand."

My mother covered my eyes but I could still see my father standing as he was slaughtered by his own kind. They resembled what Zay was like, empty wolves without a soul.

The memory then faded and led to another and one that made my blood boil. The memory of my mother being killed by Hegan. The monster that would pay with his life for what he did that day. My mother changed into her wolf form and protected me from men storming the room. But the memory started to take form in a different light than what I'd remembered. The headmaster, the one who gave all the orders, stood before my mom along with Hegan.

"I should thank you for all your help but I fear that I have to get rid of you for what you've done." My mother growled at him. "Everything you said was a lie and now I'm a monster!" The walls shook as he screamed. "Kill them!" He shouted.

A bright light appeared from my mother and her eyes shined with a burning blinding fire. She took the wolves easily as she tore them apart one by one until there was none left. The headmaster flew across the room attacking my mother repeatedly until her body lay limp before me.

My heart broke as I saw her lay there. All this time my memories had been false.

"Get rid of all of this and report back to me." The headmaster looked at Hegan and then to me before he left the room angered. "Now I need a new scientist."

Nothing could have prepared me for the things I saw. All I knew from my past was wrong; my mother, Hegan, the experiments. Everything was wrong.

My rage began to grow and an overwhelming light was starting to come from me. I looked up and my mother's light transferred to me her eyes aglow. "Don't be afraid my son all will be well. Become the guardian I know you can be."

It faded away and her voice was gone and I now walked on all fours. Hegan now stood over me picking me up cradling me as I cried out for my mother. He placed a hand on my mother's head rubbing her fur. "I'll take care of him and won't let him kill your son; I know he is special like you. I'll raise him to be tough."

The Hegan I knew would never speak this way to anyone. But it seems he was a different person back then from what I knew now.

A darkness came over me as the memories ended and I was soon plunged into a purple light. As I came to, I was back in the tower laying before the old one. A light coming from within myself as it soon dulled away. It all came with a rush leaving my entire being emotionally exhausted. The hole that had been missing was filled with things that I did not understand nor like.

'Deep down I always knew that there was more from that day and why I chose to forget it.'

'Well now you know, it goes a lot deeper than you think. That day changed us all in more ways than one. Sadly, it was not the only account that happened. Years of experimenting with power they could never understand led to what we know now.'

'What of my mother? She is to blame for it.'

'Her instinct as a guardian moved her to protect all. No one could see what was going on before it was too late.'

'What was her reasoning for all of this? Why do it at all?' I asked in anger.

'Her actions although wrong were well placed, she wanted the best for all creatures. She urged all kinds to help each other and to share their medicine. Some she was able to extend their lifespans and cure awful sicknesses that plagued weaker beings.' The old one sat before me before she continued her eyes now holding a sadness.

'That is what made her more loved by all. The value she saw in creatures pushed her to great things. Some things just were not as she imagined they would be. Everything has an effect that causes a chain reaction.'

'Do you mean those experiments?'

'Yes, mixing cures for other creatures turned weaker ones into monsters. Human cancer had bad effects when mixed with cures. The light harmed them and they began to crave life from other beings sucking them dry. Unfortunately, the few affected wanted revenge.'

'Are you not angry with how things happened to you? After all, she did betray you.'

'Sirius did betray me but she had her reasons. You must know that she did not do it to harm me, she was betrayed herself.'

After a long pause I could tell that it was hard for her to tell me the events that took place. I sensed that she was withholding more than she was telling me.

'She was my greatest friend.' She said as a lone tear fell. 'I've made peace with it. Now I take great honor in helping her offspring become what she has always wanted. A Guardian. Now you see that's what made her the greatest Guardian that lived. She protected all not just her kind, her memory is deeply respected. The stories told about her from other kinds talks of only good.''

Although I felt I should turn my back on the perfect memory I had of my mother, I could not. With these new found memories she became something else entirely and I was unsure if I liked what I saw. Yet, as her offspring it was fitting that I set things right for creatures who were affected. Even Humans.

Mei.

There was a lot on my shoulders but it was my burden to bear. I had to restore everything back to how it was with the help of the Royal. I knew that we could do it there was no doubt in my mind now.

'Now that you have faced your past, are you ready to become Sirius?'

Standing before the great one I nodded awaiting her light to show me the way once again.
