~Sirius~

"How do I speak to him as you do?" Mei stood in front of me daring Hegan to walk away.

There is absolutely nothing I could do about it now with Avis by the Royals side. There was no other option other than Hegan relaying the message back and forth. Which I refused to do.

'Tell her that she will be able to speak to me but not yet.' I was finding it hard to even allow him to tell her that. Not for the reason one would think but because there were things I only wanted Mei to know. Sharing them with Hegan here would ruin things.

'That's all? You don't want me to tell her anything else? You know that she will want answers don't you?' His rush of questions annoyed me.

'Honestly how much do you know other than the fact a dragon gave you the ability to speak? What more could you tell her? Without Avis, there is nothing we can do now just relay my words.' He was always so complicated. It was a simple task to say what I had told him.

"You both are speaking now aren't you?" What did he say?" She asked, looking over her shoulder and up at me waiting for Hegan's response.

"He said that you will be able to speak with him but not yet." Hegan looked from Mei to me sighing. 'I think she should know a few things springing a dragon out of nowhere tends to scare people. Hearing about a dragon and actually seeing one are two different things.'

'Noted.'

"How long until then?" She asked and that was a question I did not have the answer to.

Hegan again looked at me waiting as he crossed his arms knowing full well the answer. "Soon could be today or later, it takes time."

The last part was unnecessary but for now, it seemed to ease Mei's mind. As soon as Avis was back and able to do so then we would have as much time as we wanted. For now all I wanted to do was be alone with Mei.

'Leave.'

Hegan wasted no time in nodding his goodbye as he walked off towards the other humans. I looked down at Mei who seemed deep in thought over something. She looked up with eyes full of questions. We began to walk around the land away from the others.

"Do you understand everything I say?" I nodded in response. "Then I can still ask you things as long as they are yes and no questions. Just nod for yes and do nothing for no." I nodded again awaiting her questions. "Your real name is Sirius?" I nodded my response. "I adore it, would you allow me to call you Hawke as well?"

As much as I hated the origins of the name Hawke for her she could call me anything she pleased. I nodded and a smile appeared on her sweet face.

"Are all humans safe with your kind?" Her brow forwarded and she looked worried.

I did nothing knowing that it would be a transition. There was still a lot of anger that wolves placed on all humans as the cause of their suffering. She was safe with me but not every wolf.

"I see, so we all should be careful then. I know I'm safe with you even though we can not speak, I know you would never hurt me." It warmed my heart knowing that she understood. I nodded again reassuring her that in fact, it was true.

She probably would never know just how determined I was to keep her safe. For as long as I lived no harm would ever come to her again I would make sure of that.

We walked on in silence walking along the forest edge. She walked comfortably in the silence not fazed by it at all. She looked very serene in her surroundings with me even though there was danger everywhere. For myself, I could not help but be alert as others looked on at her. Humans and wolves alike all look in disapproval. Despite the barrier between our kind the hatred and distrust were clear among them both. We were free but the memories we still had kept us from moving forward.

Commotion erupted with the humans as they left afraid of approaching wolves. It was the Beta's all healed from the injuries from the cave-in. They made their way over to us as Mei grabbed onto my fur. I could sense her unease and she was not alone.

Instead, the Betas all bowed their heads showing respect not only to me but to Mei as well. Their respect was appreciated and I'm sure that if it were the Alphas they would all question things.

'Whatever you need from us we will do, Sirius.' Gideon spoke for them, their heads remained bowed.

They were showing me their loyalty was with me and me alone. Having them here would be a huge help in looking after things until Mimas was able to come back. It also scared me. I'd never had anyone show their loyalty to me before or have seen it done with our kind. Nevertheless, I would take their loyalty.

'Very well, I appreciate your help. There is a lot that needs to be done but for now, I need eyes and ears. The humans will be needing extra protection from the others.'

They were all starting to grow restless and Mimas message would only go so far. It would only create more problems and the end result would be me losing my temper.

Mei brought me out of my thoughts when she tugged at my fur. At first, I thought that she was looking at Gideon but then a shadow appeared overhead. The dragon was back and the other wolves cleared the area for her. She landed tucking her wings in, her eyes immediately going to Mei. I was unsure if this was perfect timing or not but one thing was for sure Mei was not afraid of the dragon. She was in awe of her as she looked from Avis to me with a smile on her face. Yet she was not alone in her excitement. The wolves all expressed their excitement in the link.

"I thought the roomers were false about the dragon." She shook her head as she continued to look over at Mei.

'Ah, so this is the one.' Avis looked at Mei and a dragon chuckle came from her. I was not sure of what she meant by that but I would have to ask her later. 'I don't think I need an answer but I'll ask it anyway. Are you sure that you want her to speak your wolven tongue?' Avis asked knowingly before I even had the chance to express what I wanted.

'I'm sure.'

'Bring her here to me.' Avis commanded and I looked to Mei and then nudged her to Avis.

She paused and looked at me, her fear now filling the air. "Is it safe?" Mei asked. I nodded and that was all the reassurance that she needed.

She stood before Avis as I watched awaiting Avis to give her the power of speech. The Beta's came closer to view what was happening. It was Zeroth who broke the silence.

'So it is true you know the dragon personally.' He seemed to be more excited about that fact than anything else.

All the wolves gathered to watch which put me more on edge than anything else.

'Leave now!' I commanded all of them.

The Beta's I allowed to stay as Avis purple smoke lit into a fire that surrounded Mei just like it had with Hegan. A breeze whipped around as it became thicker and soon it disappeared. Avis looked to me and nodded that it was done. Mei looked to me confused and my own heartbeat picked up as I spoke to her within the link.

'Mei, it's me.'
