Each moment that passed made me stronger and the guilty thoughts seemed to subside. Using the light became light breathing it now flowed out with more force. I could now do damage to the stone walls and become transparent for a short time. It would prove useful once I learned to maintain it.
Avis looked out to the morning sky and a strange red hue could be seen on the horizon. A mist began to settle starting to turn into a fog. Human warriors gathered looking up at the sight probably wondering just what was happening. If only they knew that a blood moon was coming for them and that it meant their doom. It couldn't come soon enough.
'Are days before the blood moon always like this?' The old dragon looked on.
'Yes, soon a silence will overcome the world. The blood moon holds a lot of power, a magic that not many can match. It is fast approaching and tomorrow will be the rising of the moon.'
A day that all will remember for years to come I'm sure. When we took back our freedom. Seems almost like a dream to a time without walls and humans over us. Without being tormented or whipped to submission, ridden like horses and our pups taken and forced to live without our mates. There would be a hard adjustment for some to know that they are finally safe from harm.
For the first time I dared to dream of what the future would hold and if that future held something for me. I never thought for myself to have pups of my own but the very thought crossed my mind now. Mainly what ran through my thoughts were Mei. She seemed to plegue my mind these days and I hardly remembered a time when she didn't. Still, the future looked bright and whatever happened I was sure that it would be great. Now it was time to come back to reality and ensure things went smoothly.
'I must go, my Master will be looking for me. I will come back.'
'Tomorrow when the moon is in full effect you need to take back my light. It can never fall into the wrong hands. I fear that things are getting worse.' I sensed the sorrow and anxiousness she held.
'I will.'
Lowering my head before I left I sprinted out the tower. Whatever her was on her mind worried me and I would make sure that I did as she asked. On another note I had to face Hegan. I was not sure what would happen after I saw it had been a while since I was at his side. I did not want to raise suspicion with any of the humans mainly Hegan. There were more important things that needed to be done.
The forest felt off and its fog became thicker and something in the air didn't add up. The trees blew overhead their branches scratching each other. Something called to me it was faint flickering in and out dulling away and changing. It was coming closer, its footsteps soft moving through the forest. I waited behind in the bushes as it came through stepping on the fallen leaves. It was a wolf but I knew that it was like Zay it was quiet inside no life in it at all. There was silence, no wolf lingering leaving it completely gone. I followed it but lost it when I made it to the humans who were talking amongst themselves of the red hue.
Soon after I found Master who seemed very angry. Probably wondering where I had been and why I stayed hidden away from him for so long. He gestured for me to follow him to the woods so no one would hear him get angry. No one could know that his prized wolf was being disobedient. It would ruin his reputation.
No one was in earshot and I knew I was going to hear it. "Where ever you have been it better be good because from now on I will lock you away since you can not be trusted."
It took everything in me not to growl and charge at him but I remembered what the old one said. After all this would be the last we would see of each other right? I could survive until then I had confidence I wouldn't kill him until then. Which now I was not sure if I wanted that or not.
"Come I've had enough of your behavior and with all this mess going on I don't need this." He began to walk away.
Snatching him back to me he let out a gurgled grunt when I dropped him to the floor. The leaves gave him cushion to land on. His angered mumblings sounded beneath me and I knew he was going to lose it, but the experiments were on the move again. Master stood looking after them watching it closely.
"That's a new one." He sighed, rubbing his back side.
It moved towards the wall of the Royals enclosure running up the wall like it was nothing. I now wonder if it was possible all along for wolves to run up them although most had tried. There was no time to sit and think about that now more of them ran up the walls inside the enclosure. I had to get to Mimas and warn him of the danger.
Sprinting as fast as I could with master on my back I made it to the entrance. They let us into the gate and we were greeted with a bunch of corpses still laying around. No one made any attempt to collect the bodies. Something had tore through them a while ago by the smell of it. Although it smelled of both the royals there was still no clue as to how they annihilated so many men.
Sniffing the air I found their location making my way there as the scent got stronger. I shook master off as we neared them. I didn't want to alarm them with an extra tagging along. I'm sure humans were not something he would tolerate.
Opening the link I called to him before I stepped out bowing my head in respect. 'Experiments are running around I counted three.' I warned him.
The Royals eyes turned red and his light flared out. 'I know they are getting closer.'
Master came from behind me as he looked at the Royal in shock at what he saw. 'Why is the human here?' His voice shaking the link with force.
'He followed me here after seeing them enter. He shouldn't cause a problem but I'll get rid of him if I have to.' He nodded at my response.
"I knew it." Master all but shouted out looking on as the beautiful she wolf let her light shine. He stumbled forward as he took in the scene before him. "What is this? It can not be." Could he be any louder? Not that I was afraid for the fight it was just too soon to take them on. This could mess things up for us alerting whoever created them.
The experiments sensed us here and now they were coming on full force. Their behavior was more erratic than the others, they showed no caution. I pushed the light forward ready for the battle ahead. It would only prepare us for what was to come. The seconds were ticking by like hours and master kept babbling on about the powers.
"You finally figured it out!" I was not sure if he was saying that with excitement or fear. He continued on and they continued to get closer.
Mimas said something to the female and she nodded her head. I could smell her fear from here. If all else I had to make sure that she was protected along with the master. Everything was starting to crash upon me all at once and my anger started to boil over. I turned and shoved master with my hind leg sending him flying through the air. He landed a mile or so off and thankfully that shut him up.
Three wolves broke through the trees, their canines bared ready for the fight. I stepped closer to the Royal keeping a safe distance from the female.
'Take the right and make sure they do not come anywhere near Elara! He said as the command took over my body and they charged forward.
