My stomach growled as I lay in the den waiting for the wolf to return. He was gone a long time and I didn't know how much longer I could stay here. I sat up and decided to pace sniffing at random things and finding his scent laced in every inch of the den. It was comforting to breathe in a males scent as strong as his.

An alphas scent was intoxicating in all good ways. The scent of an alpha could draw you in enveloping you linking you to him and you couldn't help but be drawn. Power and prestige, the more an alpha had the better his scent would be and the more wolves he would draw.

Of course in my case it was different despite the fact I had not interacted with a male wolf before now was irrelevant. More so I was thrown into this new world I knew nothing of and I had grown accustomed to this lifestyle. I had been with wolf mother since I was small, granted I was maybe three when we were taken, and I was maybe seven when I was separated from my parents.

So really if I think about it now I was roughly in my mid twenties or almost thirty I believe but I could be wrong sometimes you lost track of time. Hell I didn't even remember my name or even what my human form looked like. I was a small child the last time I saw myself. Would I be slightly bigger than I was then? Would I look like my mother or my father more, or maybe a combination?

I've forgotten what they've looked like even the way they sounded. Well all except when my mother would sing to me that's all I remember. A few songs that I would find myself thinking about and if I listened long enough I could almost see us all and remember. It was all I had left of them and me and I had to hold onto that in hopes maybe one day we would meet again. One day we would be in human form and be able to hug each other closely.

I sat down trying to bring myself out of my depressing thoughts playing with the dirt underneath my paw. I hoped he would be back soon to at least keep me company even if it meant him growling at me the whole time. I think wolf mother would find him growling at me all the time hilarious despite his powerful aura.

My ears perked up when I heard rustling leaves a mile out from the den. Sniffing the air I was able to pick out that it was him returning with a deer. My mouth watered and my stomach growled in anticipation. He neared the den putting the deer a ways away and then walking within the den. He commanded that we eat and I followed his lead.

Wolf mother had taught me to never eat before an alpha so I would have to wait until he ate and gave me the okay. The deer was a huge male buck the smell causing my mouth to water. It had been years since I had deer because wolf mother had gotten older she couldn't hunt like she used too. She tried to teach us although we learned some things we mostly caught small meals like rabbits. It got old but it was still better than the cows they would feed us already cut up. It was something about a meal that you had killed and how fresh it was.

The black wolf started to bite into the hide where it's shoulder was and I paid close attention as I sat and waited with my head bowed. Wolf mother told me they always picked their favorite part to eat first and that if I would hunt for him I should leave that part for him alone.

He gave me the command to eat and I bowed my head in appreciation and submission. Tearing into the hind leg I felt the sensations all at once, the taste, the smell and how it felt between my teeth. It was even better than I had imagined and I had forgotten how amazing it was. The flavor exploding in my mouth as my canines dug into the flesh. No rabbit or cow could compare to this taste and I was thankful to him for it.

By the time we were done we were covered in blood and the white snow stained red. We were both very satisfied and I was ready for sleep but really needed to clean up. I sniffed the air for water and followed it, believe it or not water was easy for me to track. Out of everything else I could pick it up miles away, but anything else I was a very bad tracker.
