Chapter 4:Fake Smile

SHEILA'S POV:

My heart was still pounding heavily even after he left. I woke up with Luke leaning over me. I don't think I could ever get used to that fluttery feeling in my stomach.

I have no idea what he was doing in my room, but he was in my bed in nothing but sweatpants. A shiver went up my spine. I shook my head and repeated step bother to myself over and over.

LUKE'S POV:

My mum had just started walking up the stairs when I escaped Sheila's room. Geez you gotta be more careful. I scolded myself. One second thought, I should just avoid Sheila's room all together. The idea made my stomach sour.

"Oh you're awake!" Mum smiled genuinely. I shrugged.

"And I still need like 80 more hours of sleep." I joked, pushing past her.

"Is Sheila awake yet?" She asked. There was something in the way she said Sheila's name... a sort of warmth that made my skin prickle. How long had they been here?

"Uhm I don't know." I lied, beginning to sort through the groceries for something to eat. I found a box of toaster strudel's and put two in the toaster.

"Those were Gus'." Mum said dryly. I clenched my fist, choking back a wave of fury. I've been the man of the house since my brothers grew up and went their own ways. Now this chump has taken over. I can't even eat the foods I want anymore.

"Whoops." I rolled my eyes. Thank god my back was turned to her. Otherwise I might've gotten the shit slapped out of me.

"Luke... " My mom began in that peculiar voice again. I turned around and jumped up on the counter, guarding my breakfast.

"Mum.." I mimicked her, watching her put away groceries.

"Gus wants to take you to his work today..to show you around and maybe get you a job." She said. Oh bloody fucking wonderful. I growled silently.

"No." I answered instantly.

"Give him a chance." She begged.

"No." I folded my arms.

"Please?" She frowned. "For me?"

"That's cheap!" I frowned. She shrugged looking innocent. At that moment my toaster strudels popped out of the toaster scaring both of us. I snatched them up and took an extra cream cheese spread just to piss of Gus and marched up to my room.

"Think about it?" She called up the stairs.

"Not a chance in hell." I muttered quietly. "Sure!" I lied. "But not today, the boys are coming over."

I heard her mutter something about how I couldn't stay away from them but I just slammed my door. Right as I sat on my bed the door bell rang.

I looked out my window and saw Ashton Mikey and Calum waiting impatiently at my door. What? I told them to be over at 1pm..oh wait. I forgot i'd slept for a century.

Moments later they were in my room, laughing and joking and complaining about how tired they were. "So who's Subaru is parked in your driveway?" Ashton asked.

"Mum's new man." I mumbled, shoving a strudel in my mouth. Their eyes widened.

"You mean.." Mikey began.

"Mhm." I looked away from them, pretending to be overly occupied by my chewing. "And mum wants me to do a daddy day care thing with him and its bullshit already."

"sorry mate." Calum frowned. The whole mood changed and it was tense and almost awkward. Like they were expecting me to cry or something.

"What?" I barked at them. Then there was a soft knocking on the door.

"Luke?" Sheila called from outside.

"Who's that?" Ashton whispered, wriggling his eyebrows.

I shot him a dirty look. "It's okay you can come in." I said. Sheila slowly opened the door, peeking around the corner to see who was in my room. "Don't be shy." I grinned.

"I was just uhh wondering if you had any toothpaste." She blushed looking at the guys.

"Yeah my mum just bought some." I answered and she turned to leave. "Wait! Sheila!" She stopped in the doorway. "Meet the guys." I smiled brightly. She calmly walked back in and sat down next to us on the floor.

"Hi guys." She smiled. "I'm Sheila."

There mouths were hanging open like idiots.

"I'm Mikey."

"I'm Cal."

"I'm Ashton."

They all rattled off their names quickly and she just giggled. "I know who you all are." She smiled. "I love your music." She added.

"Well she gets my vote." Mikey laughed flirtatiously.

"I'll see you guys later." She mused, getting up and leaving.

Once she was gone Calum piped up, "So I take it mum's new man's got a daughter?"
