SHEILA'S POV:

He just cares about you...I reminded myself as knocked on the front door of our apartment. I'd been gone for a day and was sure as hell going to get another beating for this. Unless Liz is here... he won't hurt me if Liz is here.

The door opened slowly. My dad and I made steely eye contact as he stepped aside to let me in. I let out a sigh of relief, Liz was sitting on the couch casually eating popcorn.

"Hi honey!" She smiled warmly. "Where have you been?" She asked, standing and giving me a hug.

"At a friends house." I said, eyeing dad over her shoulder.

"I'm going to bed." I declared and marched off into my bedroom.

I looked at myself in the mirror as I began to wipe away my make up. My peachy skin was tainted with blue, purple, red and even some yellow hues. That bastard. I thought silently as I stared at my fucked up face.

I opened my window, letting a cold draft in. I was hoping Luke might stop in. I knew it probably wasn't likely...

LUKE'S POV:

"Mum?" I called as soon as I closed the front door. "Mum?" I repeated, weaving through the house searching for her. She must be out. I quickly dialed her number and she answered on the first ring.

"Hello, love?" She chirped. She definitely didn't sound like a person who'd just been beaten, so I could feel relieved about that.

"Uhh where are you?" I asked, pacing the kitchen.

"Gus'? Why what's the matter? You sound upset."

"Uhm..." Think Luke,.. think... make her come home...

"Luke?" She prompted.

"Uhm yeah I need you to come home right now, I think... I think you're missing your show." I blurted.

"My show? I had it set to record!" She yelped.

"Well uhm yeah no its not recording." I lied, staring at the red light above the tv saying that it was actually recording.

"I'll be right home!" She exclaimed, then hung up.

"That God my mum is an idiot." I sighed heavily.

"Who's an idiot?" Jack's voice rained down from the stairwell scaring the shit out of me.

"Jesus Jack you could at least warn me when you're going to sneak up on me." I growled bitterly.

"Jesus Luke, you could have a better attitude." He retorted, casually opening the fridge and chugging milk from the carton. Should I tell Jack what's going on? I wondered. I decided against it, he'd show up at Gus' apartment with a shot gun and we'd all be in for it.

"So who's an idiot?" Jack repeated, wiping his mouth with his shirt.

"You are." I replied dully, sinking onto the couch waiting for mum to get home.

"Fuck off." Jack muttered. Then the door bell rang. I perked up, hoping it was mum. Unfortunately it wasn't. "Hey baby." Jack grinned smoothly as a busty blonde girl bounced through our doorway.

"This is Haley." Jack smiled brightly.

"Sup." I rolled my eyes. She began going up the stairs and Jack turned and gave me a thumbs up. "How much are you paying her per hour?" I scoffed.

He flipped me off and followed her up the stairs. I laughed quietly to myself. Even though my brother was a fuck boy, he was funny and I loved him regardless. I had somehow drifted off into sleep between then and when mum came home.

"Lucas Robert Hemmings!"

My eyes popped open.

"My show was recording! You made me drive all the way out here for nothing!" She complained, tossing the remote at me. I sat up rubbing my eyes.

"Yeah about that..." I yawned and stretched. "Sit down." I patted the spot next to me. She narrowed her eyes at me and sat down. "We need to talk about Gus."

"okay?" She narrowed her eyes at me.

"You need to leave him." I said firmly and her eyes widened.

"Excuse me?"

"He's.... he's been hitting Sheila. She's got bruises on her face. He's abusive mum you've got too-"

"Luke." Mum interrupted me, her voice low and dark. "I can't believe you'd come up with such a nasty lie to make me leave Gus."

"Lie?" I squealed. "I'm not lying!"

"I just saw Sheila a minute ago, she definitely looked just fine to me." Mum shook her head and stood up, heading for the door.

"That's because shes covering it up with make-up!" I shouted. "Mum stop, are you really going to believe him over me?"

"You've been jealous of him from day 1." She sneered and then slammed the door.
