LUKE'S POV:
"You look awful chipper." Mum said skeptically as soon as I crept through the front door. She was sitting on the couch facing away from me, thumbing through a book.
I shrugged casually. "I had a good day." I replied.
"Do you know what time it is?" She questioned.
"Uhmm.." Oh shit. "No."
"It's 4am." She replied bitterly. Holy cow I didn't know I was gone that long... "Where were you?" She demanded.
"Out." I replied simply, beginning to climb the stairs.
"Out where?"
"I'm 19. I don't have to answer to you anymore." I snapped.
She set down her book and glared at me. "As long as you live in my house, you will abide by my rules. And as of now, you have an eleven pm curfew. End of story."
I rolled my eyes and once I got into my room I slammed the door against the hinges so hard the wall shook. If she thinks she can control me, she's wrong. Was my last thought before I drifted into a frustrated sleep.
The next morning, I slipped out before my mum had the chance to condemn me some more. In the most selfish way possible, I wished Jack didn't have a job. It was a lot easier to have him drive me around than for me to walk everywhere.
Eventually, I'd made it to my destination. The diner.
It had just opened but it was crammed with people, that's how great it was. A beautiful blonde waitress that i'd noticed a few times before approached me with a menu. "Hello Luke." She smiled a perfect smile. "Would you like a booth or table?"
I looked around making sure no one was paying attention to us. "Actually, I have a question."
She bit her pink lower lip and flashed me a sexy look. I swallowed heavily, trying my best to ignore her passes at me. It was kind of hard. "There's a waitress here named Eve, I was wondering if she was working today?"
"Oh actually she just quit yesterday, sounded like she was moving." She answered. I sighed irritably. Can't stay in one place long, can you?
"Okay... is there anyway you can tell me where she is?" I asked and she immediately frowned.
"I'm not allowed to do that." She said. Ah hell i hated doing this..
I glanced at her name tag. "Well Emma..." I stepped closer to her, turning my 'sexy Luke mode' on. She paled, clearly losing her cool. "I would really appreciate it if you did it anyways." I ran my fingers along her arm, causing her to get goosebumps.
"I'll be right back." She whispered breathlessly, disappearing into an office next to the kitchen. She returned moments later with a sticky note.
"Thank you." I smiled sweetly, turning to leave.
"You owe me." She muttered as i left. Once on the street, I un-crumpled the paper. On it scribbled in neat handwriting was a name; Eve T. A phone number and and address. Wow the waitress had gone all out for me.
I instantly felt bad again for using her. I read the address and sighed heavily, Eve didn't live in the best neighborhood and I was walking there. It didn't take long until I was in the shady neighborhood that Eve supposedly lived in.
I felt strange being here, especially considering my debit card was hanging out of my back pocket. I spotted the address printed on the side of a run down house surrounded by weeds. I bravely stepped up to the front door and only had to knock once.
