"Wake up!" Karena yelled, disturbing me from my amazing dream. It was about about my best friend, Nella, and me moving to London. I didn't want to go to school, I wanted to go back to my dream. Still, I had to get up. Another long, tedious day of work and learning awaited me. High school honestly isn't that terrible though, it's just definitely worse than living in London with my best friend. At least I get to see most of my friends in school and show off my cute outfits that I spend my weekends planning.
I hopped out of bed, and went downstairs to get breakfast. Karena, my mom, was standing in the kitchen with her hands on her hips.
"Hurry up. You're going to be late!"
"I'll be fine." I replied as I got my Nutella toast ready. After eating, I went back upstairs to the bathroom to brush my teeth and do my makeup and everything. Then, walked back to my bedroom and put my outfit of the day on. It was a black and white striped t-shirt, my oversized black denim jacket, and black leggings. I grabbed my fake black Doc Martens as well to bring them downstairs so I can put them on right before I leave.
I headed out the door and ended up making it to my car at the same time I usually leave.
"See Karena. I made it." I said to her boastfully as I exited the house to show that I wasn't going to be late.
Karena pursed her lips and then turned around and headed into another room.*
When I got to 3rd period, I sat down next to my friend Trina. I looked around the room and noticed that two of the Australian exchange students were sitting directly in front of us today. I was shocked, they usually sit in the back corner of the classroom. This year, there were four foreign exchange students from the same country. All Australian, already friends. I found that odd since our school usually didn't take that many exchange students all from the same place. Three of them were in junior year like me, and one was a senior. I had never spoken to any of them before. The two that were in this class with us were Luke and Michael. My eyes widened when I saw that the blonde one, Luke, was wearing the same black denim jacket as me. They were probably different brands, and mine wasn't as dark of a black as his, but they were still astonishingly similar. Okay, I know black denim jackets are probably kind of common, but I still found it weird that he was sitting right in front of me, wearing a jacket that matched mine, on the same day as me. I didn't think about it for the rest of class, but after the bell rang, Michael turned around and looked at me. He pointed.
"Hey Luke. Look."
"What?" Luke looked confused then followed the direction of Michael's pointer finger with his eyes.
"You two almost of the same jacket on." Michael said while chuckling and pointing back and forth from my jacket to Luke's.
"Oh haha yeah we do. That's cool. Kind of weird." Luke said.
I gave a small awkward smile, nervously laughed, then turned my head toward the floor and ran out of the classroom. For that being my first social interaction with any of the Australians, that was pretty terrible. I'm so awkward and had no idea how to react to Michael pointed out our jackets.
Trina and I had the same next class as well, so we walked together. When we walked in, we went over near our friend, Nella. My head was still down and I must have looked upset or embarrassed.
"What's wrong with Liana?" Nella asked us.
"She was wearing the same jacket as one of the Australian students today and his friend pointing it out and Liana nervously laughed and ran away so now she's embarrassed I guess." Trina told Nella, all very quickly.
Nella giggled. "Well he must have a good sense of style then."
I gave her a fake smile and eye roll. "Thanks." I replied.
During class, Nella whispered to me, "Which one was it?"
I didn't know what she was talking about at first.
"Which one was what?" I confusedly whispered back.
"Which Australian is wearing the same jacket as you today?" Nella asked impatiently.
"Oh." I paused. "The tall blonde one. Luke."
"Ooh." She smirked. "Isn't he the one you kinda think is cute?" She whispered back. I hoped no one could hear us.
"Shut up. I don't think he's that cute. He's just the best looking out of them in my opinion. He's super lame. Why would I mock them with you if I was attracted to him in any way?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes.
What I meant by mocking them was that the Australian boys were all in a band together that Trina, Nella, our friend Kennedy, and I like to make fun of. They're not very famous, but also not completely unknown. They have a decent size following on YouTube where they mostly post off key covers where they forget the lyrics. Sometimes my group of friends like jokingly copying some parts of their videos or recreating their weird selfies. Trina, Nella, and Kennedy can be kind of mean about it, but I secretly don't think they're that bad. I know we make fun of them as a joke and we don't mean any harm, but maybe we shouldn't mock them so much. At least it's all without anyone else knowing, but they could be great guys for all we know. It is fun to pretend to be them sometimes and act like idiots though. When we copy their pictures, I'm usually in Luke's spot, so it was weird that he was the one I was matching today.
