"What the hell are you talking about?" the girl asked before slapping his hand away.
Alden was taken aback but still, he tried to explain everything to the girl. He went on and on but even before he could finish, she already left.
"Alright ... maybe you're not the girl and I'm just going crazy." he whispered before slowly walking away.
Alden went to school the next day much earlier then he expected. What happened yesterday afternoon is still imprinted in his brain.
"Hey." someone said and so he turned.
"Can I help you?" Alden asked, trying to be respectful.
"You can help me by giving me your number." the girl replied, grinning at him.
"I don't even know you." Alden replied before walking away, he's now pissed.
"Oh sorry , my name is Anna Castle... I'm a reporter for the school paper." she replied, still following him.
"What do you even want?"
"We wanna set up an interview with you."
"Interview? You're kidding me right?" Alden asked, letting his sarcasm fly.
"Actually no, we'd like you to be the cover of our latest issue." Anna replied with a smug expression on her face.
"No." Alden said coldly and just looked at his phone.
"You don't understand. Being in the cover guarantees you popularity."
"I don't need popularity." Alden replied, looking at her straight in the eyes.
"You'll change your mind. Here's my card." she replied and then left a small piece of folder paper with her number on Alden's table. The young guy just grunted, gave Anna a very grueling side eye look and then crumpled the paper before throwing it out of the window.
Anna is the type of person that annoys him the most. And he knows that if he ever ends up locked in a building with her or someone like her, he will just kill himself.

"Two days late in a row? Shit." Maine thought to herself while running inside the campus. She checked her watch, only to realize that she is already more than hour and a half late. "Second class." she whispered, darting towards the opposite direction.
Maine ran up countless stairs. A few minutes later, she caught up with Hannah.
."Where have you been?' she asked.
"Woke up late ... yet again , what did I miss?"
"You know Anna right?" Hannah asked and so Maine nodded.
"She asked Alden to be on the cover of the newspaper."
"So?"
"What 'So'? Maine, being on the cover is a huge thing ... massive actually."
"I don't get it, that's just a picture."
"It's not just a picture. It guarantees you popularity." Hannah replied in a dramatic tone. Maine just looked at her friend with a weird expression on her face.
"Popularity is nothing if the friends you're gonna get are fake." Maine reminded her.
"Fake or not. At least people know you."
Maine just sighed, knowing that this conversation would go nowhere.
"How's Alden?" she asked instead, wanting to change the topic.
"Alden? Oh he's so damn fine and judging by the way his legs are formed while wearing those Khaki pants I can tell there's something huge in there ... just placed perfectly in between his legs." Maine started giggling and playfully pushed Hannah away.
"You're so sexual sometimes you know that right?" she asked her and Hannah just laughed. The two then took a turn only to bump into someone.
Maine looked up and froze. Alden's gorgeous eyes are piercing through her.
"Hey."
"Hel-Hi ...." Maine answered, eyes still glued to him.
The two eye locked for a moment before she was able to pull away. His stare along made her weak in the knees.
"Am I that attractive?" the young guy asked. Maine felt herself blushing at the question but quickly tried her best to maintain her composure
"What? no!" she repleid, pulling away from him.
Before he could even talk, Maine already grabbed Hannah's hand and they ran away.
"Maine I love you and you know that but I'm gonna kill you .. why did you run away from him?" Hannah asked frantically.
"I don't know" she replied.

That same afternoon, Alden drove towards the Oak tree in hopes of seeing another girl sitting on the bench. He smiled when he saw one. But it's not just any girl, it's the girl he bumped into while he's on the hallway.
"Hello." he greeted and the girl looked at him nervously.
"Hey." she said and then smiled at him.
"Do you mind?" the young guy asked, pointing at the empty seat beside her.
"No." that's all she said and so he occupied the seat next to her.
"I wanna apologize for what I did this morning." he heard say.
"That's alright."
"No it's not."
"So I really am that attractive?" he asked and she just laughed.
"Fine, you are. But don't push it."
"I won't. Hey , can I ask you something?"
"Sure."
"Alright ... umm this is gonna sound weird but do you used to play here before?"
"Yeah" she replied, making his heart jump a couple of beats.
"Do you used to have pigtails?"
"Yeah ... wait." she replied and took a closer look at him before eventually pinching his face. "What? Found anything interesting?" he asked.
"Oh God ... are you the boy?" she asked, still in disbelief.
"Yes... so you're the girl?" as soon as she nodded, he quickly hugged her tightly.
"Shit it's you!" Alden said and then smiled at her. The young girl on the hand started timing out and so he asked her another question to prevent her mind from leaving her body.
"What's your name?"
"M-Maine .." the young girl replied, nervous.
"I missed you Maine." Alden said and then hugged her once again. He's just genuinely happy that he finally found her, he finally has a friend ... a real one.
"I missed you too .. Alden."
