"What? Why would you even call him that? I thought you don't like him anymore?" Hannah asked Maine a few seconds after they reached the hallway. The young girl was about to answer, but then she saw Vanessa coming straight at them.

"Oh, hello there." she greeted and smiled. Maine squinted and gave Vanessa her best fake smile.

"What do you want?"

"Nothing, I just greeted you. Can't you just be nice?"

"Why? You don't deserve my kindness. You're a fake ass bitch." Maine snapped.

"Take that back."

"Goodbye, Vanessa." Maine answered and smiled. She then grabbed Hannah by the arm and started walking away.

"This isn't over!" Vanessa yelled.

"Oh get over yourself!"

---

Alden still can't remove the smile on his face. Happy thoughts filled his mind and they're all about Maine. He's extremely happy that he still has a chance on her, which means they can still be together in the end.

He started walking hastily to the classroom to make it in time. But when he got there, the room is empty.

"Shit." Alden whispered, finally realizing where they could be. He swiftly turned around and ran towards the gym. He silently went in and sat next to Maine.

"Good Morning .... Hello." he greeted.

"Hi." Maine replied in a very cold manner.

The young guy did not speak and it caused a momet of awkward silence to fall right in between them. A few minutes later, their professor told them to get up.

"Alright class, hold your partners!"

Her thunderous voice filled the entire gymnasium.

Alden looked at Maine and smiled. She curved her lips but then looked away. Slowly, she reached for her and held it tightly. Maine's eyes suddenly shifted to him and his heart started beating fast.

"I hate you." she whispered.

"No you don't." he answered and smiled lopsidedly at her.

"I do."

"Shush." he said, letting his smile grow wilder. Maine rolled her eyes and looked away. Alden seductively bit his lower lip.

"Don't bite your lip." she murmured.

"Why?"

"You look irresistible, stop that."

"So you still like me?" he asked.

"No."

---

Maine let out a sigh after the bell started ringing, it's finally their break time. She sat right in between Hannah and Jake. The thoughts inside her mind went wild instantly at the sight of Alden talking to Andrew. She can't still forget her mistake, that one moment when her defenses slipped and she said something she shouldn't have.

"Are you alright?" Hannah asked.

"Yes." she said and gave her a smile.

"We're going to the movies later, wanna join?" Jake asked.

"Okay, what time?"

"Around 5:00 pm, right after our classes." Hannah muttered. She then asked Maine about ehr situation with Alden.

"Are you two ..... you know .... on the same page now?"

"What do you mean?"

"Are you two back together? Like ... for real."

"I don't know." Maine whispered and looked down. Alden still has not made it clear to her whether they he and Vanessa are totally over. He confessed his lover to her but he can't still turn his back on his past.

"Then ask him to come with us." Jake suggested. Maine's eyes widened and she looked at him.

"What? no!" she protested.

"But do you still like him though?" Hannah asked her.

"I do." she whispered. Her eyes then travelled back to him. She smiled softly at the sight of his attractive face. He's happy, far from the Alden she first met a few months ago.

"You two are the worst. It's obvious that she likes you and it's very obvious too that you feel the same. So why can't the two of you just be together?" Hannah asked in a frustrated tone.

"Too complicated. Dating Alden would also mean carrying his emotional baggage for him. And I can't do that, I don't deserve that." she answered, pertaining to his hang-ups.

"Then give him an ultimatum. Get his shit together or else he's going to lose you forever." Jack uttered. Maine looked at him and gulped. She knew he has a point.

"You think so?"

"Yep. That's the only way."

--

Later that day, Alden and Matthew decided to go to the movies. His younger brother kept on rambling about a certain girl he met two days ago and how they've always been talking on the phone ever since. Alden did not say anything but he's pretty sure Matthew is in love.

They reached the cinema at around 5:45 pm. Alden volunteered to purchase the tickets and told Matthew to go buy some popcorn and drinks. When he reunited, he saw him talking to a group of three people. Tree familiar faces that made his mouth fall wide open.

"Maine? Jake? Hannah? What are you doing here?" he asked but before they could answer, Matthew started speaking.

"Hey, you're back. You know them?" he asked.

"Yeah, they are my classmates. Wait, you know them?" he asked back, surprised.

"Just Maine, I met her three days ago."

"What?"
