"I'm sorry." she said and walked away from Alden. He did not follow her, and that's exactly what she wanted him to do.

Their deal is done and by tomorrow, they wouldn't even be friends. They will be nothing but classmates. It took the young girl an hour before she got home. After she got inside their house, Maine quickly ran up to her room. She wnet in and locked the door shut.

A few minutes later, the silence and her sobbing were interrupted by the sound of frantic knocks. She pressed her ear against the wound, she can feel the weight of both of her parents from the other side.

"I'm alright."

"We know you're not. Open it or we will." her father said. Maine let out a sigh and opened the door. After she saw their concerned faces, the young girl hugged them tightly.

Alden wanted to come after her so bad. But there's something about the ways she said I'm sorry that made him reluctant to follow her. She's done and he can;t do anything about it.

"You're so stupid." Alden thought to himself. Her reaction prompted him to think that maybe it would have been better if he had not told her the truth. keeping his feelings a secret would also mean keeping her around. But he wasn't able to do that, he laid his heart in the open for her. She took it, but at the same time she got scared of the responsibilities of loving him. And that ended up with them completely falling apart.

Maine wanted to go to school the next day but her Mom told her to stay at home. After realizing that spending a day off isn't a bad idea after all, Maine dropped her bag and changed her clothes back to her shirt and pajama.

"How are you feeling?" her mother asked.

"Better." she replied even though she's not sure if she actually does.

"What happened yesterday?" she asked.

"Something ended."

"What?"

"Mom ... I ... I .... ended whatever it is that is going on between me and Alden." she said. Maine almost choked when the heartbreaking moment once again crossed her mind.

"Oh honey."

"Now I don't know what to do ... I'm just broken."

 After not seeing Maine at school, Alden decided to pay her a visit. He took a deep breath and got out of the car. The young guy then walked towards their gate and pressed the doorbell button twice.

A few minutes later, Maine came out. His heart skipped a beat but he was still able to keep a calm front.

"What are you doing here, Alden?" Maine asked before she opened the gate and came out as well.

"I wanted to see you." he replied.

"Go away, please." she begged. A part of him wanted to follow her order but he knew that if he gave in to that part, he will lose her forever.

"No."

"What?"

"Maine, I'm done walking away. I already lost you once, I'm not gonan do that again." Alden uttered before he pulled her in for a tight hug. Maine tried to set herself free but he held on to her.

"Please, please don't push me away." he begged. Finally, Maine escaped his hug.

"This is hard for me too, you know? Alden, I like you too but unless what's inside of that heart gets cleared out, I can't. I can't come back."

"Maine, I love you. I really do."

"How sure are you that you love me? Maybe you only got carried away." she answered, more than ready to walk away. Alden sensed that and so he held her hands tightly.

"Let me go, please." she begged.

"No. Maine ... please believe in me ... I love you ... I ... Vanessa ... Vanessa is now only a part of my past." he uttered, hoping to make it clear to her that she's the one he really wants.

"I'm sorry." Maine then said. After Alden he heard those words, he pulled her in for a kiss. Their lips touched and the entire world went into slow motion. He saw spaks and that's hwo he knew he's really into her.

After that brief but sweet moment, their lips parted. Alden gazed at her eyes, hoping to see even the slightest hint that she had a change of heart.

"Don't you ever do that again." she whispered.

"Maine, please."

"Alden, go away."

"Let me show you how much I love you." he said.

"What?"

Before Maine could even stop him, Alden walked away and started screaming. 

"I love Maine Mendoza!" he yelled over and over again.

"Alden, stop it!"

"No! I love Maine Mendoza!"

"What the hell is going on in here?" An adult voice caused him to stop. He looked on and saw Mr. Mendoza staring at him.

"Shit."
