XIII . - Truth Or Dare -

Maine came home later that day to a very good news. She looked at their happy faces and asked what's the reason behind them.

Mr. Mendoza answered by giving her a warm and tight hug. Confused as to what is going on, Maine asked what happened while she's gone.

"Dad, what happened?" she asked.

"I got a new job." he replied, making her heart skip a couple of beats.

"Seriously?" she asked, ready to jump up and down because of joy.

"Yes sweetheart! I have a new job."

"Oh my God."

Alden woke up early to seize the day and also the opportunity to make Vanessa jealous again. And this time, he will do that by attending her brother's party with Maine as his date.

After making sure he looks good enough, he left the mansion and went to Maine's home to pick her up. He carefully parked a few feet away from their house just to avoid being seen by his father. Maine already warned him that her Dad is very strict, and that once he sees him their deal is pretty much over.

A few minutes later, she showed up and ran towards his car.

"What took you so long?" he asked.

"My father, he's getting ready for work."

"Work? I thought he's unemployed?" Alden asked, both happy and confused.

"He just got hired yesterday."

"Really? As what?" he asked.

"We're late, we should go"

"Fine." he replied before they drove away.

After several minutes of silence, Alden decided to tell Maine about the party . "You're free for tonight right?" he asked.

"Yeah why?" she answered, looking at him.

"It's Andrew's birthday. There is a party."

"And do I really have to go there? I mean, I might be out of place."

"We're going as a couple." he said with a smile on his face. The longer they play their parts, the realer it gets.

For a moment, Maine liked the idea of them being a couple. There's something about Alden that really excites her a lot.

"Alright." that's all Maine replied before looking out of the window.  She already realized that there's really no need for her to continue the deal anymore but since Alden willingly helped her during the day she broke down into pieces, she decided to just push through with it anyway.

As soon as they pulled up on the parking lot, they already saw a huge number of people gathering around the entrance of the building.

"What's the meaning of this?" the young girl asked Alden.

"I don't know. Maybe we're the new 'It' couple." he replied before holding her hand. A few minutes later, they stepped out of the car.

Maine looked on and saw Anna from the University newspaper taking photos of them. That's when it dawned on her, they really are now the new University 'It' couple.

Anna then approached the young girl and asked what she's feeling. The constant flashes of camera light made her feel dizzy and so Alden had to wrap his arms around her as they push through the group of people.
