Later that day, Alden and Matthew decided to visit the mall to buy a couple pairs of shoes. The young guy can't erase the smile on his face. They kissed, he and Maine kissed. It was electrifying but sweet and memorable. Something he will never forget for a long time.

"You look so damn happy. What happened?" Matthew asked him.

"Nothing." he answered, still trying to remove the smile on his attractive face. Alden can't deny it, he's madly in love.

"You know, we may have not seen each other for years but I know that look when I see one. You're in love, bro. Who's the unfortunate girl?" Matthew asked, teasing him.

"Unfortunate? The fuck?" Alden asked back and his younger brother laughed. Between the two, Matthew is really the prim and proper one.

"Well, knowing what you can do ..."

"Ugh, screw you. This one's different, she's special. Got me feeling things I'm not even sure that I ever felt before." he answered, voice filled with wonder and happiness.

"Okay then, whatever you say."

"What? He kissed you? That's so sweet!" Hannah exclaimed while they're walking around the park. Maine grunted and rolled her eyes as a form of reply. She looked around and noticed the huge oak tree right in the middle. She smiled after their memories instantly flooded her mind. That day will always remind her that even just for once, everything was great.

"Maine?"

"What?"

"Look." her best friend replied and pointed at the far end of the park. There, they saw Vanessa talking to a young guy. Maine stopped walking and just stared at them.

"Who's he?"

"I don't know." Maine answered.

"Is he ... you know ... could he be?"

"New boyfriend? I don't think so. But whatever it is that they're talking about, I'm pretty sure it can't be good."

Later that night, Alden decided to give Maine a call. He took a deep breath and willed himself to the possibility of receiving harsh words from her before he pressed the dial button. Two rings later, she picked it up.

"Hello?" he asked.

"Ugh, what do you want?" her sleepy voice filled his ear.

"You."

"Smooth. But seriously, what do you want Alden? It's like ... 10:00 pm already."

"I just want to know if you're okay. And apologize for what I did earlier. My lips ... they are very sorry too." he answered, trying his best to be adorable.

"Apology accepted, just don't do it again."

"Why?"

"I don't know. I'm sleepy, let me sleep." she begged.

"Fine ... goodnight my love ... I mean Maine ... but yeah ... you do know that right?"

"Yeah, bye bye love." she replied and the call suddenly ended. Alden's heart dropped, the last word that Maine said remained crystal clear to him.

"She loves me." he finally whispered and a proud grin showed up on his face.

Maine woke up early the next morning. She stretched her arms and legs before she sat up and wished for a nice day.

"Lord please, hand me the strength to face the day with a positive mind and a happy heart." the young girl whispered and got out of bed. She then reached for her phone and checked the messages she received last night. However, she noticed something strange.

Maine accidentally hit the record button during her call with Alden. The young girl's eyes squinted before she played the recording. It was all fine but she said something at the end. A word that she never thought she could say to him.

Bye bye love ...

Her own voice echoed inside her mind. Maine's heart started beating fast.

"Shit." she whispered and heard two knocks on her door. Maine almost jumped out of surprise. She gasped and quickly turned to the peephole to see who's on the other side.

"Maine? Breakfast is ready." her mother's soothing voice calmed her frantic mind.

"I'm coming!" she replied. Maine went back to her bed and buried her face under her pillow.

"Dead ... I am so dead." she said as though anyone could hear her. Suddenly, her phone started ringing. She sat up and saw Alden's name on the screen. Maine took a deep breath and answered his call.

"Good Morning, Love." his sexy, thick and deep morning voice greeted her.

"I was sleepy when I said that." she replied.

"No take backs. You love me and I love you."

"Ugh, I hate you!"
