XVIII. - Screwed -

"Why the hell did you do that?" Maine asked after he pulled away. She looked around and saw people gushing at them. 

"Well .. you said you didn't wanna help me." he whispered back at her,flashing his sexy grin that already made her feel like taking her clothes off.  

"I'm sorry." he then said after seeing her serious expression. Maine let out a sigh and told him to not kiss her publicly again. 

"Alright." he answered, shifting her eyes down to the floor and putting his hands in his pocket like a little kid who's done something wrong. 

"If ... if you want I'll help you." Maine then told him after feeling a bit guilty of letting him join something that he doesn't want to be in. 

"No need ... I .. I'm going to join."

"You would?"

"I mean it's already there right? And besides, it's a new experience."

 "Are you sure?"

"I am." Alden answered and then smiled at Maine. She smiled back and told him taht if there's an extra spot, she might join. 

"I'll find one then." he said, smirking. 

"You wish." she replied and then started walking away from him. 

 "This has to end soon Maine ... you're starting to fall for him ... you can't afford to do that." she thought to herself while walking away.

Alden's heart started pounding the minute she walked away. He started questioning himself why he kissed her. His emotions are getting distorted and the line between what's right and what is wrong has now been blurred. 

The young guy waited for a few more minutes before he followed her. As soon as he got inside, he was quickly greeted by a lot of stares and whispering. He just let out a sigh and decided to ignore them. 

Suddenly, he received a text. He pulled out his phone and saw a message from Andrew. "Are you two still acting?" he asked. 

"Of course." Alden replied only to received another text shortly and it says "I don't think so.". 

"Damn it." he just whispered and tucked his phone back to his bag. 

 Later that day, all of the contestants were asked to go to the gym for the screening. Much to Alden's surprise, Jake is there too. 

"You're also joining?" he asked, genuinely surprised. 

"Yeah. Hannah signed me up."

"She signed you up?" Alden asked. 

"Are you deaf? didn't you hear what I just said? She signed me up." Jake answered and then looked away. 

 The young guy looked on and saw Maine and Hannah right by the entrance entrance. "They really are best friends" he thought to himself. 

A few minutes after, one of the professors ... who happened to be gay ... walked in and introduced himself as the officiator of the search. Then to the young guy's surprise, he approached him. 

"You're Alden Richards right?" he asked and so Alden nodded. 

"Alright you're in ... your schedule will be handed to you by Mrs. Sally over there."

."Thank you?" that's all Alden before he walked off the stage. 

 "He likes you." Maine teased after he got near to them. 

"What? No ... "

"Yes ... you might even win because of him."

 "I hate you." that's all he said and then walked away. 

"Oh come on! It can't be that bad!" he heard Maine yell. The young guy then turned around and smiled at her, causing her to smile back at him. He's gonna do his best to win this, not only for Maine or for Vanessa but also for himself. He needs something that will boost his personality overall and this might just be it and plus, this will be a good distraction. He might stop over thinking and doubting his feelings.

It's already 6:00 pm when Maine got home. The guilt that she felt earlier is now gone and was replaced by comfort. . The young girl remembered Andrew's exact words to her. "You're changing him"

Suddenly, she received a call from Hannah. 

" Hello? What is it?" Maine asked right away.  

"Did you looked at the University Website?"

"No why?"

"Look now." her friend replied and so she did. Maine got on to her laptop and went to the site, only to see herself and Alden right on the primary page. It was the picture of them kissing in the parking lot. 

"Hottest University Couple." that's what the headline says. 

"Hannah!" Maine yelled, freaking out. 

 Isn't it amazing?"

 "Amazing? ... Hannah have you lost your mind?!"

 "Why are you freaking out?" her friend then asked her.

 "This went out totally way out of proportion."

 "It's not real though... the two of you ... right?"

 "It's not ... but Hannah ... my Mum might see this!"

 "She doesn't even visit the site Maine ... calm down."

 "She visits this site every single day!"

 "Then you should really freak out."

"She made you join the contest?" Andrew asked Alden through the phone.

 "Yeah."

 "She's amazing, the first girl that made you do that."

 "It's also a way to show off to Vanessa ... she's gonna be so jealous."

 "Alden?"

 "What?" the young guy asked. 

"Vanessa told me she still has feelings for you." 

 "Really? she still loves me?" Alden asked as a smile erupted from his gorgeous face. 

 "Yeah."

 "That's great!! ... really great!!"

 "Oh wait ..."

 "Why? What happened Andrew?"

 "Did you already visit the University Website? the one where students can write whatever shit they want?"

"Not yet .. why?"

"You might want to take a look at it now."

Alden then opened his laptop and logged on to the University Website.

"Holy Shit." that's all he can say after seeing his picture with Maine right on the first page. "Hottest University Couple" that's what the headline says. 

 The young guy just closed his eyes and buried his face on his pillow,
