Girlfriend For Hire || maiden. (Under Editing)

XX. - Complicated -

Maine spent most of the night wondering how she fell for Alden. After a few hours of thinking about the pro's and con's of her crush at him, Maine decided to ask for a friend's help and so she called Hannah.  

"Hello?" Hannah asked in her sleepy voice. 

"Are you sleeping?" she asked. 

"No. I'm washing the dishes ... what do you think I will be doing at 12:00 midnight? Of course I'm sleeping! ... I love you but please go to sleep."

"Wait! I just ..."

"Just what?"

"I wanna say something."

"What is it?"

"I need your advice."

"Well this is new." Hannah replied.

"About Alden."

"What? I knew it!"

"Knew what?"

"You like him." as soon as Hannah said those words, Maine started freaking out. The young girl even threw her pillows at the door and even kicked off her blanket. 

"Was I that obvious?" 

"Kinda."

"How?" Maine asked. 

"I don't know if you notice this Maine but there's something in the way you look at him."

"What is that something? Hatred? Pissed off-edness?" she asked and then heard her friend sigh. 

"Maine ... you really are as innocent as a puppy when it comes to love." Hannah commented. 

"What do you mean? I'm not that innocent." she replied in defense. 

"Yes you are. You don't even know if you're in love or not."

"I know if I'm in love or not .. Hannah what are you talking about?, you're supposed to be my friend." she replied and then heard Hannah laughing. 

"I don't know about you Maine but I won't be surprised if Alden already knows you're in love with him."

"Love? Already? Did you hear me say I think I love him? Hannah I kinda like him .. there's a huge difference." Maine is already losing her patience at Hannah. Her cheeks on the other hand have started blushing. 

"Fine ... I'm sorry , what are you planning to do?"

"I don't know."

Alden tried to sleep but he can't. The young guy can't stop thinking about Vanessa and Maine, and how the latter is slowly taking over the former.  He always reminded himself that he and Maine are just friends, but the more he tried to prevent himself from coming anywhere near her grace, the more he fell for her.  

After realizing that he can no longer sleep, he just decided to call Andrew. 

 "Hey man." his friend replied. 

"You're still awake?"

"Yeah ... I'm with a friend." he replied. Alden quickly knew what it meant and so he told Andrew that he's gonna end the call.

"Don't , you want to talk about something .. what is it? .... oh God oh." Alden could have sworn he felt his stomach turn upside down after hearing his friend moan and groan. 

"Is your friend in bed with you?"

"Yep."

"Alright Andrew . I'll talk to you tomorrow." the young guy replied before he ended the call. Alden then sighed, stood up and went towards his bedroom window to look at the stars. This was one of the things he and Vanessa used to do when they were dating. They would look up at the stars and wish at them.

The young guy closed his eyes before saying "Help me control my heart". After several minutes, he went back to bed. 

 Alden looked at the clock and saw that it's 12:51 am, he only has 6 hours to sleep. "Dead." he thought to himself before he tried to sleep again.

The young girl slept at around 12:51 am after Hannah hung up on her. She thought it was rude but at the same she felt like she's being stupid. Maine went downstairs all dressed up for the campus. 

Maine along with her mother and siblings then got on to the family car and was driven towards their respective destinations. As soon as the car pulled up in the University parking lot, Maine quickly noticed Alden waiting for her. 

"That's your friend right?" her mother asked and so the young girl started panicking. 

"Yep. see you later." that's all Maine told her Mum and rushed out the car. 

"What are you doing?" she asked Alden.

 "I was waiting for you." he replied like it's a normal thing for him to do so.

 "Waiting for me huh?" she thought to herself and felt the young guy's arm make their way around her shoulders. 

 "And also ..."

 "Also what?" Maine asked. 

 "You look pretty today."

 "I do?" Maine asked. 

 "Yep."

 "What about yesterday?

 "What do you mean?"

 "Don't I look pretty yesterday?" Maine joked in order for her to feel more comfortable. 

 "You're seriously asking that?" Alden asked, trying his best not to giggle or laugh. 

 "Yeah."

 "Well -"

 The young guy was about to answer Maine's question when suddenly Vanessa approached them. 

"Hey guys!" she greeted.

"Hi" Alden answered, smiling at her. 

"I have this small gathering at my house this Sunday , I would love it if the two of you could come."

"Sure." the young guy replied and so Vanessa walked away. 

"I can't go this Sunday." Maine whispered.

 "Why?"

 "Church."

 "Alright we'll go to church first, then at Vanessa's house."

 "I'm going to church with my family, Alden."

 "I'll go with you. I think it's time for you to introduce me as your boyfriend." the young guy answered, smiling coyly at her. 

"What the ...?"
