Sunday
HARRY STYLES POV
When I got home from Lizz's house, I said good night to my aunt and uncle, then went straight to bed, utterly knackered.
I felt someone shaking me. "Harry! Wake up!" I looked over at the clock. It was 9:00 am. I groaned.
"Fine," said the voice who I assumed was Aunt Joy. "Church starts at 10:30 and we have to leave at 10:15. You are coming whether or not you eat breakfast, so I suggest you get up." Then she stomped out of the room.
I groaned again. Church? I'm not a very church-y person. I sighed and heaved myself out of bed and into the shower. Once I was done, I headed onto my closet. I had put all my clothes I brought nicely in there. Very organized. Just how I liked it. I picked out a nice white V neck shirt and black jeans. I put on my extra-white shoes and headed upstairs from the basement bedroom.
I ate my Lucky Charms cereal and brushed my teeth. We still had 20 minutes until we had to leave. "Are you ready?" My Uncle Matt asked me.
"Yeah, I'm set," I replied.
"So, I wanted to talk to you about Lizz. You guys seem to be getting along great. But-"
"We're friends. Just really good friends," I assured him.
"That's great. I just wanted to warn you though, she's got some baggage from a few years ago. It's about her sports- well. I probably have said too much all ready. She will tell you when she is ready. Just be careful, okay? She's a quality girl. I've heard that you're quite the ladies man. She's not the kind of girl to be messed with. She's strong and like a daughter to me. Like I said, she's a quality girl who would need a real man. If you know you can't be that, don't try," he told me, looking straight into my eyes. He was completely serious. "She is the girl that's too good for any man. If you disrespect her, you and me are going to have some problems. Understand?"
"Of, course," I answered.
"Good," he replied, the usual smile reappearing to his face, "I want to talk to some people at church so we are leaving ten minutes early. But I guess that isn't a problem because you're already ready. So let's go." I smiled and nodded, but inside I wished I didn't have to go. We rounded up the family and got in their minivan.
On our way to church, I thought about Matt's conversation with me. I all ready knew Lizz was different. She was better than your everyday girl. Smarter, sweeter, kinder, funnier. She was special.
When we got to church, we walked through the parking lot and I thought I saw Lizz's Jeep, but I couldn't be sure. Did she even go to church? I didn't know. As we went up the stairs to the sanctuary, I decided to walk around. It was a modern building and seemed like a comforting place to be. Maybe church won't be so bad?
"We still have ten minutes until the service starts, can I look around?" I asked, and Joy nodded.
Down the first hallway there were several of rooms. Each one had a different theme. Beach, jungle, general outdoors, forest. There were probably three rooms down this hallway, then it turned to the right, and then again to reveal another hallway with more rooms. I followed this hallway to find myself back in the sitting area with the coffee. It was like a big U.
I decided to retravel the U and actually look inside the rooms this time. Most of them were empty or had little kids in them. The fifth room I looked in, I had to do a double take. There, in the middle of the room, stood Lizz. Her hair was straightened and wearing a simple white t-shirt tucked into bright red skinny jeans. She was also wearing a thin black belt and black TOMS. I watched her for a minute, stunned. She looked good. Like Ron Burgundy good. She makes Sinatra look like a hobo. And she was laughing with the chap next to her. He looked about our age. Finally, I decided to stop standing here like a creep, and say hi.
