LIZZ MAYBERRY POV
I couldn't stop smiling as I got out my Macbook and clicked the Skype icon. I chose my parents' email and waited for it to start ringing.
"You stay here," I told Harry.
"But I want to be in the frame!" He whined.
"I don't want to overwhelm them!" He laughed because he knew I never had my parents meet any boys because there were never any boys to meet. Except my former best friend Zac. But we had known each other since we were in diapers, so I never had to introduce them to him.
"Hello, Sweetie," my mom smiled into the camera.
"Hey Lizz, it's Dad," my father said like he was talking to an answering machine after I didn't pick up the phone.
"Dad, you aren't leaving a message," I sighed and Harry snickered quietly. "Hey parents."
"I'm actually glad you skyped. We have a surprise you you!" I saw my mom look at something off camera.
"Wait!" I put a hand up to stop her even though we were six states away. "I have an even bigger surprise." Before she could respond, I nodded to Harry and he awkwardly scooted into the frame.
"Hello, I'm Harry," he said in his slow accent, waving with one large hand. And in the same breath he goes, "and we are eloping."
"Harry!" I reprimanded and slapped his arm.
"I mean we are hoping you could tell us how old this raccoon is?" He asked while holding up my grey cat Theo. Theo, being held up and propped by his little cat armpits, looked startled to say the least. I hadn't even realized he was around us, let alone that Harry had captured him.
I facepalmed and laughed into my hands, but Harry wasn't done. "Or... or maybe it's a dog?" Harry said in an unsure voice while turning Theo around so they were face to face. I sneaked a look at my parents. They looked surprised. They looked almost as surprised as Theo.
"Harry what are you going?" I asked without lifting my face from my hands.
"You know I get nervous when I meet new people!" He whispered back.
"You called my cat a raccoon, Harry." He opened his mouth to defend himself but I cut him off. "And then a dog."
"I'm sorry! I'm nervous, okay!"
"Put the cat down, Harry."
"But-" I cut him off with a solemn nod.
"It's better this way," I assured him as the cat/raccoon/dog scampered down the hallway to do the things that cat/raccoon/dogs do.
"Mom, dad, this is Harry Styles."
"Nice to meet you, Harry," my mom said nicely.
My dad narrowed his eyes at Harry for a whole minute. Yes, I was counting. No, I didn't forget the number 23. Wait. Well, maybe I did. Oh, well. Take that, Michael Jordan.
My dad finally nodded in affirmation. "I like him," he decided. Harry and I both smiled and knuckle-touched out of view of the camera.
"Well I can see where Lizz got her beautiful eyes from," Harry said smoothly to my mother.
I covered up the camera and gave Harry a look. He laughed. "I know you are not hitting on my mom, right?"
"You know covering up the camera doesn't get rid of the audio," my dad pointed out, much to my dismay.
