Sunday

LIZZ MAYBERRY POV

Today was the day Ben and Madeline go back to Maine. I smiled to myself at all the memories I had of them in just the last week.

I made my way to my closet and grabbed a purposely faded yellow and white striped t-shirt. Each stripe was about an inch wide. It was casual, yet nice enough for me to wear to church. I picked out a pair of distressed jean shorts and slid them on. I grabbed some gold bracelets and my salmon colored TOMS and went downstairs.

Theo followed me to the kitchen. I put my green 5th generation iPod onto the speakers dock and put on some quiet country music. I made waffles because I'm a nice sister who makes nice breakfasts for when her nice brother and sister-in-law leave her nice house to go back to their nice home. Yeah. I'm freaking nice. Once I had enough waffled for all of us, I went to wake them up.

Ben was coming out of their room because, naturally, he smelled food. "Go wake Madeline up, I made waffles," I told him. He grunted happily and turned around to re-enter the room. I skipped down the stairs, tripping on the last one, and falling on the wood with a loud thud. I groaned and log-rolled into the kitchen again. I fixed up the plates with chocolate chip waffles, maple syrup, strawberries, powerderd sugar, and plenty of whipped cream.

"Lizzzzzzzz. You are my everything!" Madeline yelled as she walked into the kitchen in a short, old fashioned looking medium blue summer skirt. She wore a thick braided dark brown belt and a lacey white top. My eyes widened at her shoes. They were brown canvas high heels. I would never, ever be able to walk in those. I sighed at how pretty she was.

Ben came down after her, wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. I rolled my eyes at their contrasting appearance. Ben walked past me to his plate. I noticed his sweatpants were hung really low, showing off his boxers.

"Good Lord, Ben, pull up your pants," I whined. In response, pulled down his pants a bit, mooning me. My brother, ladies and gentlemen. Ben pulled up his pants and sat at the island counter. Madeline laughed and I rolled my eyes. We got our breakfast and ate, making jokes all the while.

"I have to go to church, now. You guys know what to do?" I asked them.

"Yep. I'll call for a car to take us to the airport, lock up, and we will be gone before you get back."

"I wish you could stay longer," I said, hugging them both and kissing Ben on the cheek.

"We do too, but this guy," Madeline gestured to Ben, "has to get back to work."

"Love you guys," I said bringing them in for a group hug.

"Love you too, Lizz," they said. Ben kissed the top of my head, and I backed away. I smiled and waved before going out to my car to go to Church.

When I got there I was supprised to see the Ryders minus the curly-haired cousin. I shrugged it off and went to teach Sunday school.

When I was done teaching, I drove home and made lunch as it was now noon. I was interrupted by Harry coming in through the door, freshly showered.

"Missed you at church today," I said.

"Oh, yeah. I was, um, sleeping," he replied. I pulled my knees up to my chest on the chair and rested my cheek on my right knee. I saw him staring at my left, which had a large bruise all ready from this morning.

Harry met my eyes, humorous in his face. "You fell again, didn't you, Grace?" He joked, because I am the least graceful person ever. I laughed and nodded.
