Maya walked in to her empty apartment. Maya and her mother, had made up, but weren't talking. Maya was mad that the fact her mother reacted over a small thing. Maya's mom, however, was mad that Maya was willingly to have sex with some random boy she did not know about. Maya walked in her room, seeing her mom sitting there on her bed.

"Geez mom! You almost gave me a heart attack," Maya's mom only smiled, walking over to her daughter. That's when Maya noticed the dress, and shoes laying on her bed, "Mom, why is there a dress and shoes on my bed? Not that I don't like it, no I love it! It's just, why?," Maya's mom smiled, she loved the fact Maya was like her in a way.

"You didn't think I would forget about your homecoming would you? I worked some extra shifts this week, I saw this beautiful dress in Demolition. The one you and Riley used to shop at? Anyway, I saw the dress and the shoes and I thought about you. Oh! And I bought-," Maya interrupted her.

"Mom, mom, mom, slow down! Your talking faster than me! Why would you work so hard just for some dress that I'm only gonna wear once?," Maya's mom had a few tears in her eyes, "I want my baby girls homecoming to be special," The daughter and the mother hugged each other, both of them forgetting they were just screaming their heads off each other two weeks ago.

Later that afternoon, Maya and her mom helped her get ready for homecoming. Lucas had texted Maya he would be picking up Maya early. Maya, hating surprises, had called Lucas, and complained why. Lucas had just said, "You'll find out later, ma'am," Maya in response let out a frustrated groan. Maya closed her eyes as she let her mom out eyeshadow on her.

"Okay, baby girl, take a look," Maya opened her eyes to see herself looking in the mirror. Maya gasped, she couldn't believe the girl she was in front of her. Through all her life Maya never thought she was beautiful, she thought she was okay. But tonight, her mind changed. She felt beautiful, and that's what every girl wants to feel on her special night.

"So, do you like it?," Maya's mom was happy for her daughter, "Like it, I love it! Thank you so much mom!," Maya stood up and hugged her mom, "I love you baby girl," Maya's mom whispered in her hair, "I love you too mommy," Maya smiled, she was going to have the greatest nights of her life, that's what she thought.
