1 month later...

Maya looked out her balcony window, enjoying the fresh California breeze. In the kitchen was her boyfriend, Joshua Matthews, making breakfast for them. Maya decided to say the night at his place, enjoying it. Maya was doing great, but she decided to change her whole identity. You see, when Maya said she wanted a new life, she wanted everything new, even herself. She decided to dye her hair red, but soon after dying it back to her original color.

But she did change her name, it was now Sabrina Carpenter. When she took her first step on the California sidewalks, she was scared. Scared that she would be homeless, scared that she wouldn't get a job, scared of facing the world. But she did it all, she took online classes for high school. She got a job at this art gallery, and she met Josh, a boy who can treat her right. Maya knew it was love at first sight, and she couldn't be anymore happier.

Meanwhile, Lucas sat in class, silently texting on his phone, it was the last day of his sophomore year, and there were no traces of Maya Hart. Lucas was devastated and furious. He went to the police after two weeks, but they couldn't do shit, in Lucas's words. But Lucas decided to let go of the past, he tried, but it couldn't work. His dad started to stop drinking once Lucas dragged him to see Bella, when he was sober of course. Lucas thought about Maya the whole way down there.

Now, Lucas was texting Joshua, an online friend he made. Joshua lived in California, had a girlfriend named Sabrina. Of course Lucas was jealous, his girlfriend didn't go running away after he made one stupid mistake. Lucas thought maybe he needed a break, so he decided to visit Josh for the summer. Meanwhile, the school hadn't been worried about Maya a lot. Some were sad, some felt bad, and some just ignored the whole situation.

And about half of the school went with that solution. Lucas was mad, but the truth was the truth. The bell rang and everyone scurried out of the classroom, except Lucas. He pulled his hood up, fuck the no hoods on rule, Lucas thought, "Lucas, can you come here for a minute.," Mr. Matthews gestured for Lucas to come over, Lucas slightly grumbled.

Ever since Maya left, Lucas felt like a piece of him was gone, "Lucas, your grades are terribly low, your always late to class. And you always have a negative attitude.," Mr. Matthews crossed his arms, he loved every one of his student, but Lucas was tough, "Did you tell me to come over here just to say that I suck ass at History and all the random life lessons you put," Lucas put down his hood, he was getting angrier by the second. Mr. Matthews was shocked, but he didn't want to give up on Lucas, "Tell me, what's something you care about?"

Mr. Matthews knew it was Maya, he always saw them talking, he knew Lucas was in love. When someone's in love you can see it in their eyes, "Nothing, why bother when everything you care about goes away. Knowing it was your fault," Lucas slammed his hands on Mr. Matthews desk, he looked down, if only he could change the past, "I'm guessing it's Maya."

Lucas slightly nodded, "Lucas, I teach these life lessons for a reason. You don't think I know that your heartbroken. When you care about something you take good care of it," Lucas looked up at Mr. Matthews, his eyes slightly red, "But I couldn't take care of Maya,"

"But it's not too late now, when you love someone, that love can never  go away. It doesn't go away like that. If the police can't find Maya then you can, go get your Blonde Beauty," Lucas never thought he would be inspired by his History teacher, especially Riley's dad, but he was. He loved Maya. When he cried at nights, to punching everything on his wall, to visiting his sister and his dad in rehab.

"Thank you Mr. Matthews," Lucas didn't know how to thank Mr. Matthews, so he walked over and kissed his cheek, but shortly leaving after, embarrassed. On the way he walked past a curious brunette, hearing her dads and Lucas's conversation, the only words she could get out was, "I'm going with you."

Riley raced down the hall trying to catch up with Lucas.
