Farkle, Lucas, Riley, and Maya were on the road. The four of them were excited to go back to their hometown, New York City. Farkle was especially excited, he was finally coming back after all those years. After he made that big mistake. Farkle didn't want to tell Riley, he didn't want to lose her. He had just got her back, he wanted to enjoy that.
It was dark outside and Riley and Maya had already fallen asleep. It was only Lucas and Farkle in the car. Lucas was driving silently, glancing at Maya who was next to him. He was just happy he finally got his Blonde Beauty back. Lucas didn't know when or how he was going to tell Maya the real story. But now, like Farkle, wanted to enjoy the moment.
"So, what's it like getting the girl you love back after she ran away?" Farkle decided to break the silence. Lucas was surprised with that question, "Great. I don't feel incomplete." He looked at the rearview mirror where Riley laid her head on Farkle's shoulder.
"What's it like seeing the girl you love again after all those years?" Lucas decided to ask the same question to Farkle. Farkle chuckled before saying his answer, "I don't feel incomplete."
After that the car was filled with silence. But it wasn't the normal awkward silence, it was the comfortable silence. To Lucas, this silence felt like it was saying everything was going to be all right. Nothing bad was going to happen.
A thought hit Farkle's head, "What did Riley mean when she said you were going to break Maya?" Lucas froze at those words. He didn't know what to say. He looked at Maya who was sound asleep. Farkle was waiting for an answer, he didn't hate Lucas he just wanted to know the truth.
"I didn't mean to." Lucas finally came up with his answer, he decided that Farkle should know. And Farkle knew what he meant, Lucas wanted to break down Maya Hart. His best friend.
"So what, you never loved Maya!?" Farkle suddenly changed his thoughts on Lucas, now he saw him as the bad guy.
"It was just who I was back then. But trust me, Maya changed me for the better." Lucas made sure he spoke his words with firmness. Because it was the truth.
"Maya was the one set off my demons. She was art. And art wasn't supposed to be nice, it was supposed to make you feel. She made me feel something, Farkle. If I could, I wish I could turn back time."
Farkle stayed silent after Lucas's words. He believed him. Because Farkle knew he made mistakes. And he knew Lucas did too. And he did wish he could turn back time to the good old days, when he was t that stupid.
"I'm believe you."
That was all that Lucas needed.
"Thank you."
He felt that him and Farkle would be great friends, for the greater good.
