Everything seemed to be in slow motion for Maya. The stares and laughs, the tears running down her face, the video. Everything. Through all of that only one thought ran through Maya's mind.
Run.
All she wanted to was run, just run. She wanted to run so her lungs were on fire and her legs felt like jelly. She wanted to run away from her problems. And so she did. She pushed through the crowd, not caring about tearing her dress.
Now for Lucas, everything was fast for him. The moment he said those words everyone started laughing at Maya. His heart was filled with heartbreak, knowing he had just hurt his Blonde Beauty. Lucas thought about one word, and one word only.
Coward.
He felt like one when he agreed to Missy's plan. He felt like a coward when he couldn't even call the police on his father. He felt like a coward when he couldn't even prevent Bella's coma. But when he saw Maya pushing through the crowd, tearing her dress in the process. He thought of only one sentence.
Go save her.
Yes, he did break her, but he wanted to pick up the pieces. Yes, he's an asshole for giving into Missy, but he wanted to be a hero. Yes, he's stupid and dumb and all of the other nasty words you can think of him to be, but he learned from his mistake. So, he also pushed through the crowd, chasing after his Blonde Beauty.
"Maya!"
Maya only ran faster when she heard Lucas call her name. She took off her heels, running faster. She turned various corners, hoping Lucas wouldn't catch up. Maya ended up going outside of the school, looking around, she hid behind a wall. Breathless and heartbroken.
While Lucas, he wasn't tired nor annoyed. He was determined to find Maya Hart. He also ended up outside, not knowing Maya was watching him from a distance. "Maya! Look I'm sorry! Alright, Missy made me do this!," Lucas suddenly shook his head, that was a dumb cowardly move.
He sat down, putting his head between his hands. And then he started to cry. Maya silently sobbed, but kept on walking. She was tired, mentally and physically. But mostly, she was tired of the world. She was tired of world treating her like this. Maya then had an idea, she knew it would cost her, but anything to get away from her mistakes.
She knew her mother wouldn't be home, it was the perfect time. Maya began walking home, finally landing at her apartment. She walked into her room, grabbing a suitcase from under her bed. She always had one if she needed it. And she defiantly did need it.
Slowly, one by one, she started to pack her clothes. Weeping a few tears and there. She grabbed under her bed a box. In that box was money she had saved ever since she was five, from child support. Maya's mom knew she could never give her daughter the clothes or stuff she wanted. So, when Maya got child support, Maya's mom immediately gave it to her daughter.
Maya grabbed her phone, on it was a picture of her and Lucas. They were smiling, being all boyfriend and girlfriend. There was also a million texts from Lucas, Maya again cried, then threw her phone out the window. She took a picture of her and Riley, and a picture of her and her mom.
She want necessarily in good terms with Riley, but that doesn't mean she wanted to forget about her. Maya changed herself into jeans and a random shirt. When she was done packing, she looked around she room one last time. Before going down the fire escape, she said one last sentence,
"Goodbye Maya Hart."
