When the crosswalk reminds you of him
Restful you were walking along the street, staring to the ground. The streets were so crowded that with every step you took you bumped into someone. But although there were so many people around you, you had never felt this lonely before in your entire life. If you exhaled a small white cloud formed in front of your eyes, caused by the freezing temperatures which were very typical for the time of the year.
A man walked up against your shoulder, not that hard, but hard enough that you had to back off a little. The man bowed his head just enough for you to be able to see it before he walked further to his destination. You sighed before you started walking again. You were watching your feet and made sure that you calmly put one step after another, without looking up to the many people around you.
When you came at a crosswalk your eyes snapped up. This was the place, the place you hated, the place you detested. Everyone was busy with something. Two women on the other side were having a cozy conversation with each other. The man next to you was calling with his secretary and told her to shut her mouth against his wife or that otherwise he would ruin her life. The woman next to him was yelling at her child because he didn't want to sit still in the pram. And one guy was texting with a person in hopes that they could become more then just friends.
Everyone was doing something, had somebody to talk to or to share their feelings with. Everybody had someone at home who was waiting for them, someone who took care for them. Everyone had someone to share their life with, someone they were willing to fight for. At least everybody except for you.
It was this place, this place where it had taken it all away from you. This place made your life lonely and sad, almost unliveable. These stripes took the most valuable thing you had away from you, and didn't want to give you something in return. You didn't want anything though. The only thing you wanted was to get back what you had lost once before. But it didn't, it would never come back to you, no matter how much you wanted it. And every time you came here, it seemed like these stripes were just laughing at you, even though you were standing right here.
When the traffic light jumped on green the crowd ran to the other side, all at the same time. they were moving as fast as possible so they would have crossed the stipes before the light would jump on red again, because they didn't have any time to wait for a second time. And it was pointless to still stand in the middle of the crosswalk while the lights jumped on red and it was the turn of the cars to move again.
Those cars, the things that had taken it all away from you. With their dangerous speed and the impatient people behind the wheel. Cars were dangerous and murder weapons. Others may not believe it, but you knew it's true. And they could only know that when you've been through this kind of misery, the one that you've been through. It happened so fast that you didn't know it had truly happened. In an flash the thing you had loved the most was gone. In an instant you had felt so lonely and depressed that you had thought about the fact to just stop walking in the middle of these white stripes and end your misery.
In a slower pace then all the other people arond you you walked over these white stripes which had more meaning for you then anyone could imagine. The light jumped on red again, the crosswalk was empty. The cars were now driving on the place where hundreds of people had still walked just one second ago. In the mean while there were other people on both sides of the crosswalk again, waiting to do the same as their predecessors. They would cross, leave everything behind and move on with their lives. But at least the light was red and the crosswalk was emty, like it should be.
That moment when the light is red and there is still somebody in the middle of the crosswalk...When this person is the most valuable thing in your life, when this person is the person you share your feelings with, who you wanted to share your life with, who you wanted to fight for...When those cars are driving over the place where still that one person is standing...It makes you feel lonely and depressed...
You turned around again and stared at the crosswalk. It was laughing at you again, giving you that mean, painful smile which said 'you'll never see him again, I won't give him back to you.' Tears filled your eyes when you looked at the white stripes. The place where you had last seen him, the place were he had left you. The place where you had lost the person you had loved the most in your entire life and who you wouldn't get back anymore.
You sighed while tears dripped down your cheeks, asking the same questions as usual 'Why Baekhyun? Why did you save me? Why didn't you just let me die and did live your life? Why did you walk to the middle of the crosswalk when the light was red? Why did you leave me?'
This crosswalk would be following you forever. Whenever the light was red, you would think of this. But you refused to stay away from this place. Because what if someday this crosswalk would change its mind? What if it would finally give you back what you wanted? With that little spark of hope you walked on again, but you didn't leave everything behind, you didn't move on with your life just like everyone else did. You weren't like everyone else anymore, this crosswalk made you different, changed you forever. It took the person you loved away from you and separated you from the normal people.Byun Baekhyun made you different, left you so you weren't feeling normal anymore. You weren't albe to move on with your life anymore since for the rest of your life you would be waiting for him. You would love this guy for the rest of your life, which made it impossible for you to leave everything behind. But you would pay the price for it. For Byun Baekhyun, the love of your life, the person who had left you on a crosswalk, you would do anything.
