We could have spent the whole day sitting on the bed, kissing, smiling and talking about whatever came into our minds. Then, two hours after we had gotten there, we heard the door open and Drew came running up.

He saw us from the morning and smiled wide, "WOW! Get a room you guys! Oh.. never mind..  Well just close the doors and then do whatever you want. Let your spirits free, but CLOSE THE DOOR!".

Wes blushed and dropped his head on the bed, laughing. Eagerly, feeling a new energy for life, I got up and ran behind Drew before he went into the room.

"Hey! I don't think we've properly met, and I'm sorry about last time! I'm Ray!".

He looked down on my hand and I stretched it for him to shake, "We don't do that here. We man-five...". Confused, I turned my head and narrowed my eyes. "Here", he said grabbing my hand and bringing it closer to his chest, "you're supposed to do the same so we bump into each other!".

I had seen that in movies, and I was pretty sure it would be painful for me, but I did it either way. He laughed and gave me a thumbs up as I stepped back. When I went back inside Wes's room, he wasn't there so I figured I would find him downstairs. Sure enough, he was in the living room and had just opened the TV.

I smiled my biggest smile and shouted loud enough so Drew could hear me as well, "Who's ready to go skating!? WOOT WOOT!"

In less than two minutes, both boys had grabbed their jackets and shoes and we were out the door. Wes gave me a T-shirt and a pair of his smallest shorts which somewhat fit me so I didn't go out with my pajamas. "Shotgun!" I screamed running for the car. Drew raised his eyebrow, giving me a look and jumped in the back seat. I felt like I was in high school again, where nothing was wrong. I was never the popular, involved-in-everything girl but my friends were all amazing. We'd grab our cars and just drive to wherever the road led, and we'd always find something exciting about the new place. That's how Wes made me feel. He was like an unknown road I had no idea where being with him would lead, and honestly I didn't care, because he had made me smile more in the last couple of days than I had in the past seven months. And he just brought back the high school innocence, which burned through my pain  and let my body and mind lose. He set my spirit free and he made me so happy, without even trying.

Right before Wes started the car, Drew flipped out remembering, "SHIT! Wes I have to call Kenny on that demo we have to run tomorrow, you guys go and I will meet you there in thirty minutes".

Closing the door behind him, Wes smirked at me and I laughed quietly. We rolled the windows down and headed for the skate park. Pressing on the radio button, one of my favorite songs was playing and I turned the sound louder, until the music could be heard all around the neighborhood. If there was one wish I had in life, it would be to pause forever between that moment of the spring air blowing in my hair, Wes smiling at me with his hands on the wheel, the sun blinding my eyes as we both sung along to the radio.

"WHAT I REALLY WANNA KNOW,

MY BABYYY

WHAT I REALLY WANT TO SAY I CAN'T DEFINEE,

WELL IT'S LOVE THAT I NEED, OOOH

BUT MY SOUL WILL HAVE TO,

WAIT TILL I GET BACK FIND HEINA OF MY OWN,

DADDY'S GONNA LOVE ONE AND ALL!!"

He parked his car across the beach as I looked around. I've been living here for so long and I hadn't gone down to the beach, not even once. The sun was right above us and even though there were still three months until summer, beach bodies were walking everywhere. Girls with pink and yellow swimming suits were flirting with the lifeguards, walking across the street to buy a cold drink, playing volleyball and swimming. Boys in swimming suits were playing music as bunches gathered around them, others were skating, others were chilling in the sun listening to music. This side of the city was completely opposite from what I lived with for the past months. Everyone was smiling, careless, bathing in sunrays and I felt glowingly happy to be part of their crowd.
