Did he just call me a dude? Followed by elevator girl? That must mean something right? Hold up; I don't care. I've got business to finish and I definitely have no time to waste since now I have to go buy a new packet again- or pick these up. It wouldn't really make a difference I guess, but either way I am wasting time right now and as I realize this my furiousness returns.

"Are you nuts? Are you high? Are you stalking me?" he was now amused by my words not even bothering to answer but kept laughing quietly with his hand covering his smile; his gorgeous smile. " Alright, don't let me see you again because I will hurt you". I turned to leave, relieved to finally have this over with, and soon have everything over with.

"Hey wait, sorry about that and about the pills. By the way, what are they? Trouble sleeping? I insist on buying you new ones, I'm really sorry". I turned laughing once again at the irony of the moment. Catching up to me I felt his steps getting closer and I turned to face him, putting my hand in front of me and slamming it against his chest. We remained out of breath for a minute and stayed staring at each other.

"Just go find something else to do other than stalk me okay?" I pulled back. All I needed now was some ridiculous guy pretending to be all sorry and romantic. He laughed and caught up to me in quick steps once again.

"Hey, I was not stalking you. It's kinda weird though right? Pretty dope we get to see each other three times today". Dope? Where is this guy from? Slang land? No thanks, I'll pass. I managed a quick glance and sure enough he was smiling again. Something about his smile was so familiar, like I had seen it before. I was about to remind him once more that I was done seeing his face when my phone started ringing.

"Hey sweetie. Yes I did, it was great you did an awesome job. Really? Well have fun but be careful okay?".

There we go again, my sister's ambitions of being a lead sing in a band.

"Honey, you don't know band life; it can't provide a life for you. Finish school and then do anything you want. By then I think you will be educated enough to know that these dreams don't end up so good. Alright, I'll talk to you later. Yes I know it's in ten days! Bye!".

I hang up and stared down in disappointment. If there was one reason to keep me here it was my sister. I would do everything to stop her from dreaming, to show her that life is so terrifying and it never helps you get where you want. I wanted to stop her from setting a scary future and facing her own disappointments. But I had never seen anyone so dynamic like her, well actually just one person... and I was missing her so much.

Elevator boy must have noticed my long thoughts and jumped up to lighten the atmosphere. "Sooo, not a band fan?".

"Aren't you supposed to be gone already?" He seemed taken aback. Impossible; I had already said too much and that's what bothered him?

"Is she your daughter?" Wow, I really felt like slapping him right then and there.

"How old do I look to you?".I managed to ask calmly.  He didn't laugh this time and was much more serious and guiltily I replied to his questions, " No she's my sister. She wants to go in some kind of band and have a life full of tours and concerts, and I'm trying to talk her out of it". He nodded calmly with dark eyes and replied to a text. I realized I was still standing looking at him, so I shifted directions and walked away.

"Sorry, I didn't.....grab a coffee with me?". Wow. WHAT. Did he just ask me to go for a coffee with him? As if we aren't strangers. Uh I can't remember who he is and I know I've seen him before. Well, I guess a coffee couldn't hurt.

We had been walking for two minutes and I was already regretting my decision, saying yes to his offer. He hadn't stopped texting and I don't blame him because we hadn't said a single word to each other.

"Hey um, thanks for the offer but I think I should probably go actually", I managed to finally break the ice. He swiftly put the phone back in his pocket and fixed his hair.

"Sorry, my brother took the car and left this morning and left me at the hotel, so I'm just trying to find someone to drive up here and pick me up! I doubt any cab is going to be able to take me that far, so I'm just calling around friends...I promise I'm not gonna text anyone else for the next hour". Where is this dude coming from? Where is his mind? I knew he was high; this was somewhat too good to be true, but he was acting so normal as if what he was saying made complete sense. I opened my mouth in question but saw him raise his eyebrows approvingly looking ahead. He pointed at a coffee shop across the street and I nodded. It was small and modern with bright red letters spelling out, "Chloe" on the top. I picked up a chocolate latte and he refused to let me pay. Finding a small table at the corner, I sat down and as he followed me I looked at his empty hands.

"I thought we came here so we can BOTH buy a coffee?". I tried to sound as upset as possible because it really made me feel like shit to let him spend his money just on me, when we had barely known each other for less than ten minutes.

"I'm good, I've had three since the morning.  Anyway, I am really sorry about the pills. Trouble sleeping?".

You don't even know me. Stop acting like you're trying to save me and stop pretending you care -is what I wanted to say to him. But all that came out was "sometimes". My thumb had gotten red from pinching at my fingers and he followed my gaze, seeing I was nervous and tried once again for conversation.

"So what's your name?".

"Lauren. Everyone calls me Ray though".

"Ray is such a dope name! I've got a friend named Ray he's got some rad skating skills". Did he really just compare me to a guy friend with something skating skills?

"Um cool. And rad means...?" I opened my mouth, faking that I was going to finish my sentence but he started laughing hysterically.

"Rad means cool dude!". I smirked at his laugh, it was kinda cute the way he called me dude.

The conversation started go by really easily from then on. I talked to him about my dreams of becoming an agent, and how the only job I had managed to grab which was somewhat close to my original goal was my crappy recording job. He asked me about my family, my school and had somehow made me open up to him in ways I've never opened up to anyone  before.

"So why are you so against of your sister going into the music industry if she likes it so much?". I sighed, re-thinking my harshness on the subject, I knew I was correct though.

"Because that world is just tearing people apart and making them forget who they used to be".

"No it doesn't. It helps them express themselves through music. Okay some musicians might have wild lives and shit but not everyone is like that.".

"Psh, you obviously have no idea about the music industry" I snapped and he smiled raising his eyebrows.

"And you do?" he asked ironically".

I wanted to remind him once again that working in a recording studio enables you to see what goes around, but instead I just smirked quickly and let it go. We continued talking about everything that came to our minds, until his phone started ringing and I realized it was dark outside.

"What? There's no way. I don't care, come before the freaking party dude! I have almost no cash! How the hell am I supposed to know that?!" He snapped and slammed his phone down on the table.

"Everything alright?".

He nodded, "stupid brother isn't coming after all because his friend's got a party or something".

"You could come and hang out at mine's for a while... if you want". Did I just ask him to come to my apartment?
