I'm only human

It's Friday and I felt so bad for leaving James all alone. He said that he will just go to the mall and wait for me there.

"Mr. Bennet I have to go, you need something else?"

"No Ms. Hastings, I'm good thank you. Have a nice weekend."

"You too." With that I left the building. Feeling the cool air smashing into my face I smiled to myself Christmas is near.
I was interrupted by a familiar voice, a very familiar voice.

"Leaving early Ms. Hastings?" I turned around to look at him.

"Yes Mr. Carlton"

"Why so early?" He asked standing in front of me holding his car key.

"My brother is here to visit me."

"James?" His eyes lit up with excitement.

"Yeah, and now you remember my brother? What a memory Mr. Carlton." I can't help but asked him sarcastically, I just slide on my car and left him standing there.

"So how is your work?" James asked me.

"I'm good, How about you?"

"Same, by the way I saw your freaky friend earlier and guess what?" I raised my eyebrow at him.

"She made me go with her in a shop!"

"Really, what shop to be exact?"

"Forever 21"

I laughed very hard and he gave me a glare. Just so you know, James and Myra were like cat and dog, they really hate each other.

"Wait, what spell did she said to make you say yes?"

"She told me it's urgent and she looks really sad that's why I said yes"

"She let me bring all her stuff!" He added.

Oh Myra, you are so genius. No one can do that to my brother except me and my mom of course. And now you're on the list.

"Stop smiling Sam, it's not funny!"

"To you it's not funny dude, but for me it is. One point to Myra and zero for James."

"Shut up. Anyway mom called earlier reminding us to be home before Christmas together."

"So I'm going to pick you up or you are going to pick me up?"

"No, I think it's better if I just pick you up"

"Okay, are you sure?"He asked and I nod.

I am here at the mall having dinner with James. He'll be staying with me until Sunday and I have so many plans for him while he is still here. We already bought our Christmas gifts but we make sure to hide it with one another.

"This ice cream is so good!" He moaned. We both ordered ice cream for dessert.

"Yeah, I know dude. "

"James can you wait for me at the parking lot, I just need to go the rest room."

"Sure I'll - or maybe it can wait until we get home?" In just a snap he looked so angry looking behind me. As I was going to turn around he holds me.

"What?"

"Don't you dare to turn around Sam." He never leaves his sight behind me.

"What-"I turn around to see the man I wasn't expecting to see.

He walked in our way and stop in front of us, this is not good.

"What do you want?" James said looking at him.

"How are you James?"

"What do you want?" He asked again.

"James let's go, it's not worth it come on." I hold his arm.

"How dare you? I thought you are different. I can't even say your name! I treat you like my own brother. Our parents treat you like their own son! I really want to punch your pretty face right now did you know that? But then I will just disappoint my parents if I do that. Besides we are here at the mall so you are lucky."

This is the first time I saw James being mad like this.

"Come on, we've got to go James." James is still standing in front of Luke looking at him.

"I'm glad you're not her boyfriend anymore. She deserves someone who will treat her right and love her endlessly, who will always be there for her."

James and I turned around without looking back until he speaks again.

"It's easy for you to say that but you know nothing James. It's easy for you to judge me without knowing the truth." I stopped and look at him in the eyes. James did it too and we are both confused on what he is talking about.

"Really, you think we are going to believe you?"

"I'm not asking you to believe me. All I want is for you to understand me."

"What are you talking about?" I asked him. Right now I feel like the world is spinning very fast.

"We all made mistakes because we are only human, and I'm only human Sam." He said my name. We are both looking at each other's eyes.

"Who told you you're a human?" James said. I just ignore his statement.

"I really don't know what are you trying to say but all I know is it's too much."

"I know, I know and you've got to understand me. We need to talk Sam and I know that I've been unfair to you. "

"I don't know," I said honestly.

I know that whatever he will going to say will hurt me even more and change everything. Knowing the truth is what I've been looking for so long. But now that it's already here, I don't know if I should be happy or not.

"Just give it a shot please? That's all I'm asking."

"I'll think of it." I heard James grumbled beside me.

"So what is your plan now?"

"I don't know! I think I'm going insane Myra."

"Just chill and think of it okay, no need to rush things."She said smartly. I sighed leaning my head on her desk.

"If you are on my position, what are you going to do?"

"Hmm, maybe I'll talk to him."

"Okay."

James told me that I should stop thinking of him. He really hates Luke right now.

Why give him a chance to explain right? I've been waiting for this moment. It's been two days after the incident and it felt like forever.

"Hey, thanks for comforting me. I really appreciate it. But I have to go." I left their house and I went to the park alone.

I pull out my phone and dialed his number.

"Hey." He answered.

"I'm giving you the chance you've been asking but I can't promise if I'm going to buy it. I'll be waiting for you, here in the park right now." After that I hung up the phone and sighed heavily. I really don't know if this is a good thing or not, I just want to know the truth right now.
