Is this my karma?

If it is, please don't do it to her. Let it happen to me and not with her. She's been through with so much pain and I couldn't afford adding another pain for her once again... Emotionally and physically, she was hurting and it was all because of me and now this incident!

I brush my hair with my left hand fingers while the other hand is holding the steering wheel of the car. I am so frustrated thinking about what might could happen to Sam. I sigh loudly and drive as fast as I can.

When I finally reach the hospital that Myra texted me, I finally see her sitting alone outside the emergency room.

"Myra, where is Sam??" I said as I come nervously near her.

She looks up at me as she cries. I sit beside her and comfort her.

"They just came in and bring her inside the ER, if you could just see her Luke! I can't even recognize her!!" She said as she cries on my shoulder.

"She'll be fine, I know Sam, she's a fighter and she can make it." I said like more to myself, hopingly and praying that she will get through this because I don't know what will happen to me if something happened to her.

"Who called you? Where is her family?" I asked again.

She sniffs and moves away from me to look at me while wiping away her tears. I gave her my handkerchief and she accepted it.

"I got a call from the cops because they thought I was her sister based on the name on her contacts, I was at home when they called, after that I hurriedly called her family and I'm sure that they're on their way here now. The cops asked me a few things then showed me the picture of her car and it was really wrecked, as in wrecked Luke!!" She cried again, I don't want to picture what she is talking about because it made me dizzy and even weaker.

"Shush... she'll be fine okay? Have faith... " I told her.

We are both silent for a moment until she started to speak.

"You know, sometimes I wonder why bad things happen to her, like she did nothing in her life but to be a good person. She only wants everyone to be happy even if she's not. She's that kind of person who only wants what's best for everyone but it always ends up of her being a victim. We've been together for so long, she's been like my sister, and she knew everything about my secret, she always save my day when my mom and dad used to scold me. She's the best, and I'm not going to lie, that if something ever happen to her? I don't know what I will do with my life..." She said while looking at the ER door.

After a couple of minutes, Sam's parents Mr. Henry and Mrs. Rose Thompson came but without the twins. Then later on, Mr. David and Mrs. Hailee Hastings came followed by James. Everyone is crying as expected. This is the time where you could see everyone is silently praying for Sam's condition. James is comforting Myra. The moment he stepped inside the hospital, we just all forget about happened before. He tapped my back and told me that 'things will be fine' before he made his way to Myra. As much as I want to tell him that it's impossible not to think of it, I refused to, knowing that he's just being a tough one and also even if deep inside him he was scared as me.

Tapping my shoes as I couldn't help but lean on the wall while I'm sitting at the corner, I saw Sam's two Father, the one that she used to call Papa and his Dad talking to one another, then later on Mr. Henry Thompson was on the phone talking to someone.

As the time passes by, I found myself getting nervous more like I could almost hear my heart beat so loud.

"Why is that, there's even no one ever dares to talk to us?" Mrs. Hastings said impatiently.

"I agree, shouldn't they at least inform us about what is happening inside there?" Mrs. Rose Thompson said with frustration as she pointed the emergency room.

"Honey, relax... I've just asked the nurse who just passed and she said that the doctor will be here in a while." Mr. Henry said trying to calm his wife in any possible way.

Mrs. Rose Thompson just glares at her husband.

"Relax?? Henry, can you even hear yourself now? My daughter is inside that door fighting for her life and you're telling me to relax? We just got her Henry! And I can't lose her again! "

Mr. Henry apologizes to his wife after and while everybody is either having a small conversation or praying, I was being brought back from my own thought when the door finally opened and a nurse came out followed by a doctor. The doctor, instruct some things to the nurse before the nurse left us.

"Ms. Thompson family?." The doctor said after reading the paper.

Both of her parents hurriedly made their way to the doctor as the three of us James, Myra and I follow.

"We did our best; she is now in a stable condition. However, she still needs to undergo some treatment based on what happened to her face but that's not my concern right now... (The doctor said as he looked at all our faces, I have a feeling that it's not good but I have to think positive. ) My concern is, Samantha needs to undergo some surgery. There was a strong impact on her brain due to the accident causing some veins connected to her eyes to be damaged and might lead to loss of vision that is why we need to schedule her surgery as soon as possible. I know it was hard for you to take it in but you guys have to be strong for her. I can feel how much of a fighter she is, so all you need to be strong and pray for her too." The doctor said.

I began to feel like my head is going to explode.

I hear everyone crying at the same time.

As they keep on mumbling incoherent words makes me dizzy.

Pacing back and forth, I couldn't believe but think about Sam.

"I want you to do whatever you need for our daughter, everything!" Mr. David said, almost begging.

I actually didn't mind what the doctor said next because what just caught my attention is,

Sam being blind?

The girl I love could be blind?
