Bambi :

It's Christmas Eve and I am so fuckin' beat! I already got my mom, dad, Alayah and JJ's presents. Now I must get Tony one. I know he loves basketball and video games, so I walked into GameStop in the mall. January isn't here yet and the new 2K18 just came out. I know he wants it, but most likely, won't be able to get it until February. I walked up to the counter and waited on the man behind the counter to assist me.

"Welcome to GameStop, how may I help you?", he said with a smirk.

"I ordered 2K18 a couple weeks ago and I've came to pick up my order. My name is Jamerica Williams.", I said.

"Alright, give me a minute to look for it.", he said before walking into the back. I stood at the counter and whipped out my phone, scrolling down my TL. I waited until he walked back out to put my phone away.

"Okay, our orders got mixed up and it's taking a minute to find the game, so you can take a seat over there and I'll try to get it to you as soon as I can.", he said before walking away again. I took a sigh and went to go sit in the waiting area. After sitting for about five minutes, I decided to get up and look through the games. I came upon the new PlayStation 5 and I was admiring it. It seemed really fye and ran for a high ass price.

"Jamerica?", someone said form behind me. I turned around to see someone I haven't seen since like my sophomore year.

"Rashod?", I said with a smile. He walked up and pulled me into an embrace.

I've known Rashod every since the eighth grade. I used to have a major crush on him, but we never dated. After eighth grade graduation, I didn't see him again until the tenth grade because he ended up going to Leon High School and I had to go to Rick. We used to always talk on the phone and text about how we're going to get married and have kids, go to prom and many other things, but he started to get attached to 'thot attention' and things never played out right. We fell off, but I'll always have a soft spot for the kid. He was like my best friend.

"How you been girl?", he said while pulling back from the hug.

"It's been okay. A few bumps in the road, but I've been fine. How about you?", I asked him.

"Everything's been great actually. I got a full ride, football scholarship, so you know how I'm rockin' over this way.", he said with a smile. He always had a passion for football and he tried his hardest to keep his grades up.

"What college are you going to?", I asked.

"UF.", he said with a smirk. I started beaming with excitement.

"I have plans on going there to, when I get this IB scholarship.", I said. I sent in my admission papers before the first semester ended, and now I was waiting on a reply.

"Shit, I hope you get it. I been lookin' forward to spendin' more time with you. It's been a minute.", he said while rubbing the back of his head.

"I know right. I would say we can chill over the break, but I have to prep for prom and right now, I'm Christmas shoppin'.", I said.

"Oh, you must be gettin' a present for Jamir."

When he said this, I felt like the world had come to a stop. I got quiet for a few minutes before speaking.

"Jamir shot and killed back in October.", I said while looking down at my nails.

"Damn, I'm sorry Bambi.", he said while pulling me into a hug.

"Yeah, but how was Leon's prom, I know y'all had y'alls before the break started.", I asked while trying to drift away from the difficult topic.

"Yeah, I didn't go. Things happened and I just didn't feel like going. My girlfriend had moved to another school and she was supposed to come with me, but I found out she was messin' with another nigga.", he said. "So, I just didn't go."
