Chapter 24 <> Borrowed Time
Nagsimula ng masaya ang gabing iyon dahil naging entertainment ang tantrums ni Gabby that’s why I felt positive na I’m going to have some fun with the Femmes.
“Uwi na tayo!” parang bata na sabi ni Gabby habang papasok kami sa loob ng Pandemonium.
“No way! Porket nalaman mo lang na wala si Edge dahil hindi sila ang tutugtog,” asar ni AA sa kaniya.
“Euna dapat kasi hindi mo muna sinabi kay Gabby iyan,” comment ni Eve.
“Hala! Kanina ko pa sinabi ‘di ba na kaya tutugtog si Jude kasi hindi nga tutugtog iyong banda nila Edge,” react ko sa kaniya.
Umupo na kami sa napili nila Marie na table sa may bandang gilid pero malapit pa rin ng konti sa bandang tumutugtog. Pinanuod ko habang nagse-set up iyong banda nila Jude while the Femmes continue to tease Gabby.
I felt eyes staring at me kaya napalingon ako. I almost fell off the chair sa nakita ko. Is it just my imagination? My heart immediately said no. He’s here . . .
“Euna! What are you looking at? Magsisimula na sila Jude,” pangungulit sa akin ni Felice.
“He’s here . . .” I whispered.
Tiningnan din ng Femmes kung anong tinitingnan ko dahil hindi na maipinta ang mukha ko though hindi nila narinig ang sinabi ko.
“He’s back!” ‘di makapaniwalang sabi ni Felice.
“Sinong dumating? Shit! Si Ryuu iyon ah! Kung nandiyan siya ibig sabihin present din si Edge!” sunod-sunod na sigaw ni Gabby.
“As a matter of fact, they’re all there sitting on the opposite table at the other side of the room,” Marie said smiling wickedly. I can tell na may binabalak na naman siya.
Our eyes met and I felt my heart thudding painfully at my chest. Jude’s band started playing and the song severely reminded me of our times together. Is it strange to think that he’s reminiscing with me as our eyes continue to meet?
