Get Her Back

I sat in the cold waiting room of the adoption center waiting to be called. This still feels like a dream. A bad one. My daughter was given to another family......
"Jackson." They called.
" What can we do for you sir?" She asked.
"Um I'm looking for whoever adopted out Aria Jackson."
"Sir that information is, private we cannot give-"
"I'm her father." I stated.
" Can I see your drivers license please?" She asked nicely.
I gave her my license and waited. She came back. "Go down this hallway and room 18 is where you need to go. Her name is Sara. She's Aria's case worker." She smiled.
" thanks." I followed her directions.
I knocked on the door. "Come in."she hollered. I walked in, "are you sara? " I asked. She nodded. "What can I do for you, Mr.Jackson?" She asked.
" You adopted my daughter out to a family and I want her back. I didn't sign any papers. This has got to be illegal some how." I said.
"Why Are you just now saying something? " She asked.
"I just found out." I replied.
" she was adopted out 6 weeks ago & you just found out.... that says a lot about your parenting......" she said.
"Excuse me?" I asked offended.
" Look Mr.Jackson. when a 16 year old mother comes to me with bruises from her fight with her baby daddy, I don't need your signature. You guys were a dangerous environment for Aria so it became my job to get her out of there and into a good home. You don't leave a 16 year old girl to care for a child all by her self then show up where the heck you want & fight with her. .....You legally cannot get your daughter back. It's a closed Adoption Mr.Jackson, it's impossible. I'm sorry." She said.
" SHE IS MY DAUGHTER! YOU HAD NO RIGHT ADOPTING HER OUT WITH MY PERMISSION!" I yelled standing up.
" We are a mother state Mr.Jackson. I don't need your permission unless you're paying child support. Now please leave my office."
I stormed out of her office heated! I got in my car and drove to the police station, this can't be legal!

"Sir what she told you is exactly right. I'm truly sorry. Sir you can't get your daughter back." A detective & officer told me. I walked out of the station and went home. I walked in the house. Everyone stood up. "Sooo?" Jermaine asked. I didn't bother looking at anyone. "She's gone." I said walking up to my room. The first thing my eyes laid on was her crib. I walked up to her crib just staring down in it.
My door opened, I looked back to see my mom. I looked back to her crib.
Her hand rubbed my back.
"I cant get her back.... I can't even see her." I said breaking down. My mom pulled me into her, as I sobbed.
"I want my baby girl back. " I cried.
" I know baby, I know." She said.
"How could she give our daughter up for adoption?" I cried.
" I don't know sweetie."
"Can I please just be left alone?" I asked nicely. She nodded.
I laid on my bed, just staring at my ceiling.
I remembering being so scared about having a baby but once she was here, it was our norm. I think about her all the time. All I thought about on my way home is hearing her call me dada. It was music to my ears. Now I won't, I don't know if I ever will.
My phone started ringing. It was Nina.
"Hey baby." She answered.
" hey." I answered sadly.
"Whats going on, any luck? " She asked. Tears filled my eyes.
" um yeah...." I said breaking down.
" baby? Baby? What's wrong? Talk to me ." She said concerned.
"She gave the baby up for adoption. I can't get her back, I can't even see her." I cried.
"You're lying, right?" She asked in disbelief.
"Nope, she's gone. She wrote me a letter saying basically we weren't fit to be parents to her, from Dre. I talked to her case worker, the police. I can't get her back." I said sniffling.
"Text me your address, baby in coming over."
" Babe you don't have to, it's a 3 hour-"
"Babe you need me! " She begged.
I smiled a little. "Okay. I'll text it to you. " I said hanging up.
By 8pm there was a knock on the door. I ran down stairs & opened the door. Immediately she hugged me. I wrapped her in my arms.
"I am so sorry baby. " She said sincerely.
I just hugged her tight. "Michael who is this?" Joseph asked.
"This is my uh girlfriend." I said.
"Oh..." he said with a look of disgust.
He walked away. "Why did he look like that, who was that." She asked confused.
" That's my father.... Um everyone knows I cheated on Dre with you & they all aren't happy about it." I said.
"So they think I'm some time off homewrecker?" She asked softly.
"No, baby no. It's just my family is religious. Having a baby out of wedlock is frowned upon in my family then all of this. I'm not the favorite right now, lets just say that." I said stressed.
"Michael Joseph! What are you doing bring another woman in this house already!" My mother yelled coming from the kitchen.
"hold on a second baby. I'll talk to them." I said going into the kitchen to speak with my mother
"Why are you guys making a big deal out of this." I asked stressed.
My mother wouldn't even look at me.
"Michael Joseph you were not raised this way. I didn't raise you to treat Dre the way you did then you bring this-this- this homewrecker in my house! You're girlfriend left and put your daughter up for adoption & your already bringingthis woman in my house because they're not here! Where did I go wrong with you?" My mother hollered on the verge of crying.
" She is not a homewrecker! Let's just get that straight. I'm sorry I fell out of love with Dre. I didn't mean for this to happen mom! She's here to comfort me! That's what a girlfriend does! & you are the one who put them on the street not me, remember that!" I said walking away. I grabbed Nina's hand taking her up to my room.
We laid in bed and just cuddled. "I didn't mean to rip your family apart." She said sadly.
"we fell in love, what was were we to do?" I said.
She shrugs.
I laid there, staring around. I looked over to my night stand. There was a family picture of Dre, me & Aria. "I cant believe I won't have anyone to call me dad anymore. I can't believe she's gone. It all feels like a nightmare." I said as tears swelled up in my eyes.
"I cant believe that psycho bitch did that." Nina said.
"She's lost her damn mind." I said.
I felt like I was too now. I couldn't stand being home. It just made me think of Ari. It made me sad. I left the next, I felt like I was going crazy. When I got up, Ari want there for me to wake up to. My heart hurt beyond repair.
