continued-- In the hospital--

My sweet sweet Liam. Only three years old and fell down two flights of hard marble stairs. I should've been there. I should've been watching after my children. I am a horrible mother. I don't deserve people like Liam, mom, Madison, Joshua even. I can't do this. I can't go through depression again. I gotta try and get myself back together and look after my children.  Suddenly Joshua was sitting next to me in the waiting room.

"How long have you been sitting here?" I asked

"I just came back from the room. I'm sorry Ashley." He says as he breaks down to tears.

"What are you apologizing for. You were there. You did all you could. I wasn't there for him. So, I'm sorry. We gotta stop fighting Josh. It's affecting everyone around us." I said trying to hold back my tears. I feel so guilty.

"I know. But this is not your fault. You were busy and you just wasn't there. It's ok to not watch the children's every move. That's all you did. I was the one who was there and all I could do was watch my son fall down two long flights of stairs. He wont wake up because I watched him fall. He wont open his eyes." Joshua cries. Then he starts to cry in my shoulder. I gently rub and comfort him and try to tell him everything's ok and it's not his fault. Suddenly my mother and Madison came busing through the hospital doors.

"Ashley, where are you?" She shouts.

"Over here. We're over here." I said as I waved my hands. They came rushing towards us and Joshua left my shoulders.

"I should talk to my parents." He says. I nod my head and he walks away.

"Honey? How is he?" Mom asked

"I don't know. He wont wake up. Those are some hard stairs." I said

"Oh honey I know. But where's Jake?" Mom asked

"He's with Liam, I told Liam to take him out and keep him calm." I told them. "Mom, I am a horrible mother. I wasn't there to catch him or save him from falling. A mother is suppose to be there and I wasn't. I was talking to a friend instead of saving his life." I cried.

"No, honey, you are a great mother. Being a mother doesn't mean you're Superman or Superwomen. It means you love them unconditional and you care about them and you'll always be proud. It mean you gave birth to an awesome person and you are gonna help make them become who they are gonna be. That's what being a mother is all about. You're not always gonna be there for them and that's ok. But when you are that's what counts." She says. Then she hugs me.

"If I was your daughter I would be proud because my mother went away and took care of her self then she came back and still loved me and cared for me and was there for me like you are there for Liam right now." Madison says then she joins the hug.

"Ms. Rodriguez?" A doctor says.

"Yes?" I said as I pulled away from the hug.

"I have some news on Liam. This isn't gonna be easy to hear but listen closely. He has a sever concussion and internal bleeding, he is also in a coma. It's tough to say how long but by the looks of it it seems it's gonna be a while." She says. My heart shatters.

"You can stop the internal bleeding right?" I asked

"Yes but he's gonna have to go into surgery. Are you ok with this?" She asked

"Yea, surgery on my son to help save his life, hell yea. Just tell me when you're about to start." I said trying to hold back tears.

"We re gonna start in about ten minutes so, if you want to see him now is the time." She explains.

"Ok, thank you doctor." I said. She nods her head and walks away.

"Ashley are you ok?" Madison asked.

"I'm trying to be ok. He's not dead so I guess there's some hope. But it was just stairs. Why is he so injured?" I asked

"I don't know. But we should go visit him." She says. I nod my head and go to his room. I saw Joshua in the room and filled him in on everything.

 night time.---- 

Everyone left except for Josh and I. Visiting hours were over. Liam took that surgery like a champ. They stopped the bleeding.

"Ashley, I wanna stay here with you." Josh says

"Ok. I'm not gonna fight you on this any more." I said. He just wont leave me alone with Liam.

"Can I see the scars on your arm?" He asked

"Why?" I asked

"I just wanna know how bad is it." He said. I then rolled my sleeve up and showed him.

"Not too bad. Promise me you wont do this again." he says.

"I promise. I wont do it." I said. Suddenly his lips were on mine. Sparks flew everywhere. He still has my heart. Damn it.  "Josh!" I shouted as I parted.

"I'm sorry." He says.

"It's ok." I said.

"I'm gonna get some sleep. It's getting late." He says. I nodded my head and watched him go to the pull out couch.

one week later--- 

"Ash, get some sleep. You've been up all week long. You need rest. I can watch him." Josh says

"No, I can't go to sleep. I have to be here for him." I said. He then comes behind he and rubs my shoulder and arms.

"Yea you can. You need it. Look you got dark circles around your eyes. AT least you're showering. Get some sleep I got it from here." He says. Then he kisses my neck.

"No. I don't want to." I said. I am so stubborn sometimes but I gotta stay up.

"That's it. I'm calling your mother and she's gonna drag yours ass outta here. I'll be following." He says. Then he calls my mother, Oh my god. Just let me be.

A few minutes later my mother steps in and really does drag and push me out. I don't have the energy to fight back.

at home.

Joshua drove me home in silence. but he kept glancing over to me with a smirk.

"Home sweet home. Now, get some sleep. Our son s fine and your mother will contact us other wise." He says

"Whatever. I'm not sleeping." I said. Suddenly he walks up to me and kisses me. It was good. Damn I've missed his lips.

"Why are you so stubborn?" He asked

"Why did you just kiss me?" I asked

"Because I'm in love with you. Always have been. Always will be." He says. Then he kisses me again. He picks me up and still continues kissing me. Until we are upstairs. He then throws me onto the bed. He crawls up to me and starts kissing me again while taking my pants off. I'm about to have hot sex with him. He then parts away from me.

"Now get some sleep." He says. I gasped in shock.

"Wait what?" I said

"You heard me women, you're not getting none of this until you get some sleep. Then once you're well rested you can have all of this. " He says

"I have a boyfriend so I don't need all of that." I said

"Been there before. You'll come back to me. But in the mean time, get some sleep. Even if I just make you a little horny." He says as he puts covers on me. Then he give me a soft peck on the lips.

"Goodnight Ashley." he says.

"Fine, you win. Good night." I said. Then he walks out the room. I then closed my eyes and went to sleep. He won and not just me sleeping, he won my heart back too.
